YouTube video on 2nd page of YouTue???

It can be hard to get a video to the top spot with a competitive keyword.

If your video is spinnable, they change it up a little and upload multiple versions with different titles and keywords. If you make 5 videos at least 1 should hit the 1st page.

Are you getting views and likes? I'm thinking this is your problem.

I am getting a handful of views a day and likes here and there...But this is the first time I have tried to rank for a really competitive keyword and so far I have done pretty well...You think my problem is getting consistent views/likes?

Honestly, yes. It seems like you are doing everything else right.

It's not hard to rank a YouTube video but with competitive keywords there are usually, like in your case, other videos that are either older, have more views/likes, or more audience engagement.

The simplicity of ranking is one of the reason I always incorporate YouTube videos into my marketing campaigns. As long as you are doing all the other stuff correctly (which is just research and typing) than your video needs more viewer authority (views, likes, length of view, etc).

You can Google "free youtube views" and find great resources to boost your views semi-organically. "Semi-organically" meaning you get a real viewer but they have an incentive for viewing your video.

Commenting on other videos in your niche will definitely help. Make sure you pick the most popular videos and slip keywords from your video in your comments. Good luck in making #1

How's your video performing right now? I find for youtube video you'd get more results if you go social (meaning stuff like stumble upon, social bookmarks, and social shares)

Don't just try doing what you see recommended in forum. Look at what your competitors are doing. Do they have more views than you? More comments? More votes? What backlinks have they built, if any? Etc.

Yea they mostly have more views and comments which I am working on getting more of right now...I am hoping with time my video lowly but surely crawls up...If it does I will be able to get a lot of traffic in a pretty hungry niche

Someone was telling me that high retention is only important when trying to rank videos in youtube and for ranking on Google 30 second views etc work just as well as long retention views.

Is this true?

Thanks guys, right now I have been adding content in the description box every 3 to 4 days as I heard it helps your YouTube rankings....They say treat it like a blog...So far I have actually seen some good results and my video moved up 2 spots so far (I know this will continue to fluctuate)....I am going to keep using and tweaking some of my methods....

Use this site to check your competitors backlinks and the quality of them. https://ahrefs.com/
Where are the backlinks coming from? .gov, edu etc? You will find out on ahrefs for the first 6 anyways. Anymore and you have to pay. Keep at it! Good luck.

You will definitely get more positive results if you promote your video in popular social media platform. You can promote it through Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, StumbleUpon, Google+ and many other social shares.

Here's what i do to rank a youtube vid:

Some may say this is lame, but it works for me...

Use google's keyword tool to find my keyword.

I upload the vid.

optimize it accordingly. (keyword in title, and twice in description - once near the top, and once near the bottom, plus in the url)

I find a cheap bookmarking service that will dripfeed bookmarks. (usually about 4 bucks)

I use a couple of my other google accounts to comment and like the vid, plus add some thumbs ups to comments.

I buy high retnetion views from fiverr after the vid is 7 days old (high retention view vendors will not sell these views unless it's 7 days old.) Do not buy regular views or you'll end up with the dreaded 301+ counter and you'll never rank! make sure you're buyin' high retention views only.

That's it.

Not lame at all...I heard High Retention views are one of the best things you can do to rank a video...I bought a gig of High Retention views and my rankings have increased...My video is now crawling towards the middle of page 1 on YouTube and page 5 on Google for the keyword...

My clickbank hops have skyrocketed since I bought the high-retention views and I even managed to make a sale of $31...My videos have been dancing like crazy and I'm hoping this means that they are eventually going to rank higher (who knows)...I bought 30,000 blog comments for my video and a 1,000 EDU/Wki link gig to see if that affects my rankings....Right now it is all trial and error for me but with already making one sale, I think eventually with more traffic this could be a consistent income....Then all I have to do is scale up...

Yup, it definitely works man - a lot of folks on here have no faith in fiverr gigs, but if you find a good seller you just can't beat the results for five freakin' bucks!

I'm able to rank pretty quickly with competitive keywords, and very fast with long-tails.

Me as well man...I think once you find the right formula of backlinks, high-retention views, social bookmarking etc...Your potential to rank videos is pretty unlimited...It is all about trial and error for me at the moment but I am learning each and every day...

Over the past 5-7 days my video has been dancing from the top of page 2 on YouTube to the bottom of page 1 on YouTube....Although this is progress and my rankings have increased my clickbank hops have decreased...I have seen improvements in not just my primary keyword but my secondary keywords as well, but my hops have been pathetic when a couple of days ago they were impressive and I even managed to get a sale...

Does anyone know why this happens, or is this just normal as my video is dancing all over the place??

YouTube marketing is no walk in the park, but it does keep you on your toes!

The first thing you've got to look at and possibly address : Do you have your main keyword phrase not just in the title, but in your video description? The next thing you should look at is getting a few solid backlinks pointing towards your video and ping them for quicker indexing.

If you apply the above then, you should see a rise in your You Tube rankings and possibly on to the coveted page one, a lot depends on what the people above you in the rankings are doing.

I have been buying High retention views once a week and have seen some really good progress....I am going to continue buying those and mix that with some back linking, blog commenting, and likes...As of right now my video is staying strong at the bottom of page 1 on YouTube, which is pretty good for a competitive keyword....Now I just to crawl it to the top....Slowly but surely!

In the process of just waiting to see what my video does...It has crawled to the #12 spot on the first page of YouTube and page #4 on Google so not too bad...I am currently only getting a little bit of traffic right now...I will buy more high retention views in a couple of days...Hoping that I can eventually rank this in the #1 spot and start banking from it...

Some thoughts:

a) Check those high retention views really are high retention: many sellers of HR views do not truly offer them, and rely on buyers not bothering to check.
b) If you want to spend a few $$ advertise your video using adwords for video. Target using keywords - many many RELEVANT keywords. This alos has the benefit of unlocking the YT call to action overlay that might improve conversions
c) Enable closed caption subtitles and ensure your keywords are packed in there
d) Use annotations - again stuffed with keywords, but not so many annotations that your video is unwatchable.

All of a sudden my video jumped to page #2 on Google and this is the best ranking on Google to date...Oddly enough my Youtube ranking went down a bit...I have been building back links but mostly buying high retention views...So far I have noticed the most results from high retention views...My hops have been pretty weak lately and I am a little concerned but I know patience pays off when it comes to ranking Youtube videos...Thanks for all the help and I will keep everyone updated on my progress!
