Unfortunately, you cannot do this without opening yourself up for civil liability.

You might try converting Arnold or Madonna or whoever to a caricature and escape the possibility of liability or not.

I am not a lawyer, in fact have no legal training whatsoever. I don't even play a lawyer on tv.
In no event will I be liable for any loss or damage including without limitation, indirect or consequential loss or damage, or any loss or damage whatsoever arising from loss of data or profits arising out of, or in connection with, the use of my opinion. Taking legal advice from anyone via the internet is a bad idea, you should do your own research and consult proper legal counsel before embarking on anything after breakfast.

  • You can use my face if you like.

What bugs me is that Facebook actually approves these ads! I've seen so many IMers simply adding a celebrity pic to their ads, and Facebook full well knows that Joe Marketer does not have clearance to do so.
But hey, Facebook makes money on approving ads right? (albeit the ad is obviously using an image without permission) That's the greedy world we live in I guess.

NO! In doing so, you'll be misrepresenting the celebrity and making it look like they endorse your product. Great way to get yourself sued.

Never do it as doing it might put you in difficult situation. Only use images which you have copyrights to it other wise using some one else's image have some serious consequences.

It would depend on ownership of the photo or drawing.

I read of one case where someone use a dead person in their marketing and was sued by their heirs. It was quit a while go and I don't remember who it was. I don't know what the outcome of the lawsuit was either. It's not something I'd do so I didn't follow the story.

Best advice with that idea, check with a real lawyer.

I'm afraid you still won't be able to use it, but I'm not 100% sure about this.
