Facebook Ads - Boost Posts or PPV/PPC?

Just curious to know what anyones thoughts on "boosting posts" vs PPC/PPV on Facebook and what you found to work. I've noticed the on any posts for my fan page starting at $15 I can target to demographics and age range (also found they have guidelines so all ads arent's approved, ex: excessive text in pics). I've purchased a few times with mixed results. One got me about 35 Likes and 5 newsletter subscribers, but another just 5 likes and 1 subscriber.

I think that boosting post is like a roulette. It's mostly about the timing, and the post is dug under a newest posts. So for me was always better standard ads on FB

I have boosted posts several times and results were very disappointing ones.

Unless with some time, boosted post may not bring any good results.
    Good luck!

I have found that Facebook ads work better. Plus you can always get a $50 ads voucher for a few bucks on eBay

Thanks for the input! Any advice or "to do"s in regards to Facebook ads? I'm really new and don't really know what are the things I should make sure to do. I noticed that the ads have a small graphic along with a title and description - these are the type I should focus on? I also read that PPV is the more preferred method correct?

I've had the opposite results of boosting posts from everyone here...my CTR is around 5-6%. As far as standard FB ads go, the ones that I did get approved didn't go anywhere...
