Are Facebook Ads Dead in generating income?

Do you think facebook ads are dead? Obviously it's a social site so niches like forex or stocks & Shares will not generally do well, however, dating and any other 'social' niches seem to do well.

It proves that a some amount of research needs to be done to ascertain whether your campaign will do well or not.

I like to hear your thoughts on the future of facebook ads?

  • Yes they are.

I've been browsing threads here for the last 2 years and I can confirm that everything is now dead.

Expect the "is it dead" thread.

From my own experience though FB ads are working rather well. Alive and well in fact.

  • Yes. FB ads are dead. Along with Gmail, article marketing, list building ...............

Depends on your product. I used facebook PPC and ended up with zero results. But you really need to split test and make sure you are targeting the right audience.

    • Hey Pingsters,

So true about split testing. Most people give up after only one test and don't do the geo targeting bit.

  • Have you tried the promoted posts on Facebook?

I think the cool people call it "native advertising".

One benefit of Facebook is, that it's much cheaper then Google ppc. Having said that I have not touched for about a year.

  • It certainly is not dead as I can attest to it from daily personal experience over the last 8 months or so.

  • ...says the person who doesn't know how to use FB ads.

I know they are efficient and so do countless others.

Just say this instead which is more the truth than what you just said...

"I couldn't get FB ads to work. They are not efficient for ME"
    • [2] replies
    • Thanks for sharing the screenshot Jason. Those stats are impressive and you probably do it consistently. Well done buddy!

      • [1] reply
    • Yeah, think that's the right expression I couldn't get FB ads to work for me. Ever since Facebook stopped advertisers from choosing devices, their ads stopped working for me. I hate mobile traffic and that's seem to be where my clicks are coming from.

  • Cool Stuff Sazal

  • Yes a big yes they are dead. Now most of the ads that related to entertainment and shopping are preforming well but if your service oriented company don't waste your money in FB
  • Banned
Yes they pretty much are, especially with all these ad blockers that people use. Let's be honest, Facebook is the last place where people want to be invaded by ads!

    • Is that just your thoughts or from your testing?

Because one of those is irrelevant and the other isn't.

Either way if you haven't tested it or you tried and failed, it doesn't mean it doesn't work. A lot of people spend a lot of money on FB ads, just ask FB. I'm sure lots of those are losing money but all of them?

No I didn't think so either.

      I fixed that for you.

Just because you think or you know that for service orientated customers it's dead, doesn't mean it's dead overall, does it? Look what you wrote...

      • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • Maybe that's how you feel, but I have data that proves otherwise.

People spend more time on Facebook than any other site, you can drill down your targeting to shopping habits, interests, age, political affiliation and much more, you can get clicks for pennies, and it's dead?

      How is that even possible?
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • When people declare something as dead it usually only means one thing. It is not working for THEM. Facebook advertising is working better than ever and will continue to. But just like all advertising it's success or failure is up to the advertiser and not the advertising platform.
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • I don't think its dead however you do have to be careful with what you are advertising, There are allot of spam adverts out there on facebook and think people are starting to realise so not clicking ad well,

The new promote a post probably the best way at the moment but again you need to watch as spammers are bound to start using this more and more
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I certainly cannot comment on the future of face book ads but at present it works very well for me.
I tripled the money I spent on face book ads
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • FB ads work great. You just have to split test extensively and think outside of the box. Not only do you have to split test the actual ad, but the landing page and offer as well. You can make a killing with FB ads, but it takes a lot of time and effort.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • not dead, if:
    - you have a lot of time
    - a lot of money to pay to M.Zuckerberg
    • [2] replies
    • My take - I don't think they work
      • [1] reply
    • I don't think I spend more than 5-10 minutes a day on Facebook ads

I'll pay anyone as much money as I want so as long as I am happy with the return I get on my investment.

One day you will learn how business works. lol
  • There is a very simple answer to this question -- test everything yourself!

People will come on here and say, "XXX is dead", when it did not work for them. This does not apply for making money -- but for everything.

    Take Facebook for example...

There are thousands of sites that say a certain time is best time to post. The truth is everyone has a different audeince, product, and method they market on Facebook.

Only by tracking your own results can you determine exactly what day, time, and type of post are most successful for you. Each person will be different.

So my advice -- instead of asking if so and so is dead, or believing people when they so it does not work, go out and try it for yourself.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • no way Facebook ads are not dead dear. here you can get the most targeted audience
this is right this is a social networking and dating niche are very much relevant but u know here you can find out all kind of people with different interests and needs so just have to intelligently target the most specific audience and get results...
  • if you dont' know how to make money from xyz thing, then everything is dead, if you do know how to make money from it, then nothing is dead.

    plain and simple.

    • I'm pleased that many people like you just think about things.

Having said that, you have seperate SEO, web design and Ecommerce agency companies in your signature.

I'd have thought, if those were really your sites, that you might have done slightly more than just think about it.
  • FB advertising has just changed in a way. You just need to test it out and see what works and then spend your money heavily on the ones that WORK.

People don't like FB ads because they go at it, then they fail after they lose their first $50. Just like you would be pissed at the casino when they stole your $50 in one hand of blackjack!
    • [1] reply
    • If people are so worried about losing $50 on a paid ad campaign, they need to stop thinking so small and see it as an investment (and a tax write off).

      $50 is shit.

I lost $500 a month ago testing out a banner placement. Did I quit? No. I just learned a $500 lesson on where not to advertise.

Anywone worried about losing $50 needs to stretch their vision. $50 loss on 1 single ad campaign is a small price to pay to uncover a winning campaign that nets you $50 in profit or more per day.
  • Of course Facebook ads are dead. Nothing to see here...
  • I never get success with facebook in initial stage too, i think its almost dead now and Its not even generating small income for me

    • I agree with pingsters. Depends on your product.

    • You must not have read any of this thread.

You just haven't been successful at Facebook marketing.

It played a huge role in me making enough money to not need a job anymore... and I have a big ass mortgage, a wife, and 4 kids living on Long Island NY
  • Well for me it is not, maybe you need more information on how to run it well to generate more income and traffic because until now it is serving me well.
  • I personally think Facebook is not a good ad platform for most niches as most people here are in fun mood not in a serious mood to make a purchase. Most time they would just visit your landing page just to satisfy their query.I would use Facebook to promote dating offers and/or games.Facebook can be a good platform to increase brand awareness rather than expecting sales.
  • before you think about face book have a look at this tv video and then tell me you think you should use it.

  • Have a look at this TV video before you make up your mind!

seem that Face Book is the new slave wage centre
  • Facebook ads are NOT dead nor will be anytime soon. One may think that by just throwing up any ad success would be automatic but its just not that way.The purpose of a Facebook ad is to draw the "like" by having an attractive page with valuable content FIRST, THEN you can attempt to monetize with your posts.Using any other strategy you will fail with FB ads.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Yes they are its not dead even its too expensive to advertise in FB even it has lots of people click your site but there are a few chance that they have an interest to buy or purchase your product.
  • Making money from Facebook is not dead. In fact, I make money from it every day. You have to be smart about what you choose to promote on Facebook, as many niches do not produce results. You have to test and figure out the ones that work. And as long as your click thru rate is around 0.3%, you won't be paying very much for your clicks.
  • if you use timeline/wall as a campaign tools > i think u'll get nothing.
I've tried it, i don't know what's wrong but it seems doesn't work.
but if you use facebook ads (on right of the FB) i guarantee it's still work,
and ofcourse you have to pay some bucks to FB

    hope this will help you

  • As most are saying in the above posts, whether FB adds are dead or not is subject to ones personal experience with them and how many times they have refined their ads and targeting. I one gives up after one or two attempts then finding the profitable campaign may never happen. The nice thing about FB ads is that they are comparitively afordable to do experimentation with. I have recently purchased a couple WSO products on building FB fanpages and advertising campaigns, so far my results have been less than exceptional but there are many refinements that can be made. I would recommend doing some studying on FB and get your feet wet with a small campaign, check the results and modify from there.
  • FB ads are alive and will prosper for long. Actually, they are the future of IM and the most credible way to make an income without paying a fortune to -so-called- "free" SEO.

All you have to do is create a fan page - drive ppl through FB ads - install an email list and have them join it (by giving sth away) - monetize your email list!!!

    It's that simple
