Is twitter marketing strategies effective?

I have a twitter account that has 10,470 followers. I wonder why all my followers don't click my links in my tweets. Is twitter marketing effective?

One of my sites gets 90% of its traffic through Facebook and Twitter (thefreestuffpage.com). I ensure I am able to provide lots of great useful content along with monetized stuff as "sprinkles on the icing". My secret is to provide great content which creates loyal fans. And then they will trust and love you.

followers don't click for few reasons most of which are: 1) tweets are too heavy in selling them, 2) your content is not interesting or doesn't solve real problem.

While the 10K will give you some authority with future followers...forget the 10K for now. You need to add more followers that fit tightly into your niche. Also, I would suggest adding BufferApp and analyse what times, what kinds of post they respond to and keep enhancing/tweeking those successful tweets. They (followers) want consistently good content/value from you. Its up to you to deliver it.

Probably need to add another zero or two to the end of that follower count before you will get any meaningful traffic from twitter.

    Hi kirknet,

I think it all boils down to the content you have on your twitter, and what those followers want. As mentioned by journalistabid, you might have gotten quite a bit of those followers. Additionally, it could also be that your tweets do not appeal to their interests, or they're not persuasive enough.

Assuming that your followers are genuine, it is very important to understand the broad interests of your followers, and to craft your tweets accordingly. On top of that, congruent with what overtonis has said, your tweets might be coming across as being too "salesy". Have a short and simple, but interesting enough tweet, so that your followers' curiosity will be piqued.

Additionally, you could try to use trending hashtags so that non-followers will get to see your tweets as well.

What kind of links are you inserting in your tweets? Do they lead to your main site, or to other sites?

Twitter marketing is still effective and one of the best ways to earn money online. There are many possibilities why your links are not clicked by your followers though. It could be that you’re just giving links without titles or descriptions that’s why they’re not inclined to click those links. Also, timing is everything. It’s not smart to tweet during the busy hours of the day. I hope you’re not spamming as well because if you are, just sending links to products, you’ll probably not get anyone clicking on your link.

Maybe most or all of your tweets are blatantly commercial and you do not seem to be using Twitter to engage in discussion with other users. You also run the risk of antagonizing current or potential customers if too many of your tweets look like unsolicited ads.

Are all of these legit followers or did you just buy the followers? Of course if you just bought the followers they are not legitimately interested and therefore why would they click on your tweets.
