Need clarification abt. fan gates... please

Hey warriors,


as far as i know you a fan gate is always connected to an app, right?

That means that i can only redirect my traffic to an app-URL in order to show the users my fan gate.

Or is there also a fan gate that can be simply be shown to everyone that visits my regular fanpage-URL?

Hope that question makes sense.

    Fan gates only work with Facebook apps, though you can 'fan gate' a web page with some clever Javascript and the Facebook API. That link you gave is an app. Its doing nothing special. You can never fan gate your time line directly.( though you can fan gate an app and then use the app to redirect them to your time line)

    How do I know this for sure?
