How To Quickly Rake In Fans/Followers/etc Over Social Media...

I don't have much time, but i'll just type in a simple post so you get the gist...

Social media works because people are continuously doing the following activities:
  • Monitoring their walls/feeds
  • Monitoring trends/trending hashtags/top news
  • Presenting themselves to the world/Getting attention

What you need to do is to stand out from the thousands of ads, friend updates and "noise". So here are some suggestions you can carry out to bring out your presence:
  • Carry out contests where people can win privilleges
  • Generate social proof to get the momentum moving
  • Pattern-interrupt people by showing them humorous/shocking news/images (keep it away from negativity!!)
  • Provide huge value
  • Occasionally tease them by "salting" any upcoming launches (previews/demonstrations)
  • Recommend very useful and good tools to use for free
  • Give deals out
  • Exclusivity: Facebook private groups, etc...
  • Tease with name-dropping celebrities
  • Actually RECOMMEND them to share. Ask them to click the share button and share it with their friends. Don't push, make it natural.

The reason why I'm posting such a "common sense" post is because I'm seeing a trend of marketers trying to just get numbers on their Likes/Fans/Follower count.

Numbers =/= Engagement!

While it may indicate social proof and get more people in, the main point is CONVERSIONS. If your social media does not engage and give value (and most importantly, make them hungry for MORE)... then what is the point of your social media except for entertainment?

One big, big thing that marketers often lack in social media is also brand protection. Let's say you're selling a diet product, and there are negative comments on your Fanpage. These days, consumers are SMART. They will type your product name into google and search up reviews for your product. And when they see words like "scam", "bad", "low quality", "lousy customer service"...

You just lost a sale.

Just a short post. Hope it helps!
