How I generated 20% CTR (NOT 0.20%) with $0.02/click on Facebook Ads.

I'm here to share with you guys how I managed to get 20% CTR with 2 cents per click on Facebook ad campaigns.

1. Find very targeted leads from Facebook (thanks to New Facebook Graph Search!). Grab their email addresses or UIDs.

2. Create custom audience (using Fb's Power Editor)

3. Make Newsfeed Ads (bidding for this type of ad is way higher than traditional right side Ads. So it is REALLY important to have very targeted custom audience to make this campaign successful)
Btw, the reason I use Newsfeed Ads is I can make sure people see my ads when I use Newsfeed ad, and since custom audience is NOT going to be targeting like millions (since it's very targeted), I have to make sure every single person in my custom audience doesn't miss my ad.

4. I use CPM to lower cost per click since I have very high CTR.

5. Split test as usual to optimize!

** 20.5% CTR with 2 cents click was the best one so far, I had another campaign with 12% CTR with 3 cents click. (*See pictures below )
These are NOT from 'Pet' related niche, where people are easily get excited and engaged on Facebook.
Actually these are from random niches, 'kidney stone' and 'sciatica', and I still received huge CTR and 2 or 3cent clicks, meaning that you can apply this to ANY niche you want and possibly get even better results than I did!

P.S. It's up to you if you use the Ads to drive traffic to Facebook Pages (which is usually cheaper) or other web pages.
P.P.S. I actually Direct Linked to merchant sites, and managed to get 3 Conversions as an affiliate from these two campaigns on that particular day. Yes! Direct linking on Facebook actually works!

I hope this post was helpful to you guys.

Well, My ad was mainly focused on Direct linking to Merchant websites.
Yet, I still received about 120 Likes on that single Day with about 20 comments
(which went viral, so ended up receiving more fans free), while i managed to get some conversions at the same time
(I didn't even mention 'Like us if you like [something]' stuff on ad copy, it was pure directlinking)

If you use this strategy to focus on getting Likes,
I think the number of fans you should receive is way much higher.

I haven't paid for any fb ads yet so hope these questions are ok.

        1) Is the newsfeed posts the same as suggested posts in the screenshot? Is this method less expensive than using interests?

        2) When you say that the ads were mainly focused on direct linking does that mean part of the ad goes to the facebook page and the bottom part links to merchant? Or did you mean that none of the ad at all went to the facebook page?

        3) When you directly link is that using bitly or what is best way to do that- and are you using a graphic?

        4) Do you have to budget a certain amount to get ads that inexpensively? thanks.

        Debbie

Hey Yogini, here are my answers for your questions

          1) Yes, they are the same. And using custom audience is usually less expensive (in my experience), and even if it's more expensive it is way more targeted than targeting Interests, so you will get better CTR, which will lead you to less expensive cpc eventually.
However, I always got less expensive bidding from the beginning so far.

          2) To run Newsfeed and, you MUST have a Facebook page. So, the ad is going to be like
'a post written by the Page' shown on people's Newsfeeds.
And, since I'm making a Link Post, my Picture will direct traffic to whatever I put (i.e. merchant's site).
However since the Post is going to be written by my Facebook Page name, people can go to Page if they click my Page name.

          3) I prefer Google url shortener.
And yes, I use graphic. The Link Post will let you upload a picture, and clicking the picture will send people directly to merchant's site.

          4) I got those results from Day1, budget was $10 per day.
If you can get laser-targeted custom audience, and if you can get every single person from the audience to notice my ad from Newsfeeds, it's impossible to NOT get inexpensive clicks.

hope you these answers help you debbie

You have made an outstanding post supported with data! You clearly took a lot of time and energy to get these kind of results which leads to my question. How can I scale this up to a custom audience campaign representing millions of business owners and/or Facebook page owners? Would I need to upload the emails myself using a large list or are you using software to build your list in a way that can be used for large lists?

  • Where is the newsfeed ad selection? When I create an ad there are 3 options listed "to get more likes", "promote page posts" and "see advanced options". I have created about 600 ads with the get more likes option and I'm only averaging around 15-20 likes per day which is terrible. I'm really discouraged right now when I see people getting hundreds to thousands of likes per day on only a few dollars a day. My budget is $5/day. Do you have any advice?

Thanks for this useful information, I noticed that facebook had gotten a power editor, although I did not know what it was for.

I will definitively try this out after doing some more research on the Power Editor.

Very interesting - how exactly do you collect the UID ? You must be using a software - I presume.
How exactly is the the new Graph search help you and how do you use it ?
You've got an interesting post but it's missing a few crucial details on how you collect the UID using the new Graph search.
