Help! Repeating Old Successful Facebook Posts?

Should I or shouldn't I? Is there any advantage or disadvantage?

    If enough time has past and the post is relevant to your fans I see no harm.

    But don't post it on Monday then post it on Wednesday.

    I agree. It's helpful to re-post popular posts but don't post them too soon. In addition, it can also help if you are upfront with your audience. Sometimes, when people notice that you are bringing an older post, they become annoyed. You'll have to give them a good reason why you are re-posting it.

    I recycle posts once a month. It really all depends on your niche.

    If it's current news, then don't do it at all as it was current news when you originally posted.

    However, if it's just information that is timeless like how-to or infographics, then you can repost.

    I've reposted the same stuff every month for as long as i've been running my page.

    With Edge Rank being what it is, you don't reach your entire audience anyway.

    One of my pages has 65K fans, and my average guestimated reach per post is about 15K.

      I think there is no universal answer to that question. Depending on the number of followers, niche and post types it may work..or not.

      On the page with 600k followers and mostly image posts (24-40 per day) I'm reposting popular posts every two or three weeks, making sure I'm reposting them at a different time than the last one. With that number of visitors there is always someone who is seeing the post for the first time and I'm quite sure those who already saw it and liked it will like to see it again.

      I've tried the same thing on few other pages with 100-200k fans and there was no negative comments or reactions at all, so I can't say I've found any disadvantages of reposting popular posts. Still, I'm not sure I would do the same with text posts.

        Yeah exactly.

        The other thing, especially on a page with 600K followers, is there are so many more people being added month in and month out who missed all of those previous posts. So why not share them again so they can hopefully see them.

    I agree with the others but I would be really careful and wouldn't recycle them too often. Otherwise the old fans from the first days could leave you pretty fast.

      If you're page is growing daily, you can afford to lose fans every day.

      The way I see it, the moment anyone complains on my page and says they're unliking it bc they didn't like something I posted or bc they already saw it, they've been replaced.

      I am willing and dont care if I lose 20-30 fans a day because I'm getting 300-600 every day.

      Just expect to lose fans for a variety of reasons. As long as you're a lot more than you're losing, you're good.

      Ok, went and checked the insights. The numbers in the last month say:

      30 - 40 posts per day (10 of those are repeats)
      New organic likes daily: 500-800
      Daily dislikes: 50 - 100

      In a worst case, where I would get 500 organic likes and 100 dislikes, I would still have 400 new followers and that doesn't sound bad to me at all. Numbers were similar on days when there were no repeats so I doubt all or most dislikes come from that.

    If the posts earlier were successful then it doesn't mean it will still be usefull because as time changes, strategies and methods changes. So now what you need to do is to have a look at it again and edit and update it and then you can use the post again.
