yeah I have spent hours following people to get follows back. However that type of worthless traffic does not convert. I would recommend only following people that are in your niche. You probably won't get as many follow backs but at least it will be convertible traffic.

Wait for the RTs and mentions (and links back if you're lucky).

Tweeting at someone is very effective. Engage people on twitter, even if they aren't your followers yet. Participate in and start conversations related to your business. Often you'll get a retweet and a few followers. I know a guy who built his mailing list from nothing to like 50,000 and this is where he started.

Buy good quality fake accounts and then mass follow targeted people

Follow all that people who is related to you niche and post valuable post.

Just follow more persons ... Some of them will surely follow you..

1. Do keyword research
2. Use advanced search function on Twitter to find targeted twitter accounts who are twitting about your niche or keywords

4. Use tweepi to remove those who did not follow you back after 3-4 working days.
5. Follow people who had twitted in last 24 hours about your chosen keyword
6. Use specific hashtags when posting.

There is a long list of activities which I can suggest but for now just start with above 6 steps. Remember it is always better to have only 10 followers who are highly engaged and helpful for your business rather than buying 10000 followers for $20 USD.

Developing influence on Twitter is harder than I thought it would be! You need to be delivering good content that other people are genuinely interested in. I've gotten an increase in followers lately after publishing and sharing some blogposts.

I think h4wts' advice works. People are more interested in themselves and other people than they are interested in abstract ideas, so it really helps to be specific and concrete. I prefer to think of this as "human connection" rather than "ego bait", but it's essentially the same thing. Social networks are about people.

Just remember to make sure that your content is good, useful, relevant! Also, Favorites can function kind of like Likes, they get you noticed- so use them! And reply to real people when you see stuff you like. Say good things, be human and friendly. You may not always get responses, but it's inevitably worth it when you do.

Increasing twitter followers that actually are useful to have and read and act on your tweets is much much harder ... and that all comes down to the quality of what you tweet.

I only follow ~30 people on twitter as I want to read what they have to say. Think about the tweets that come from the people you want to hear from --> emulate them.

You have two option ,you can go through manual way by doing yourself with proper activity daily basis on Twitter or you can hire a professional for such a getting likes and followers.
