Hello friends,

I sure that that is an interesting question and I think that more people will choose facbook is the best for you but for me, I will choose Twitter because Twitter brings me more customers and traffic than Facebook.

What about you ? Facebook vs Twitter, which is better ?
#social media #facebook #twitter
  • Facebook all day every day.

I wouldnt even spend much of any of your time on Twitter IMHO

  • Hi,
In my opinion Facebook is much better then Twitter.
The reason is that Facebook is popular among every age group, so you get huge audience for your product or website.

    • Facebook without question.

I still don't get why "average" people use Twitter.

It only makes sense to me if you're a celebrity or a marketer like us trying to sell to these "average" people.

By average I just mean average everyday people.

  • Facebook is best for driving traffic but some times your adsense get banned due to large volume of traffic from social media

    • Don't you hate that. The Big G loves to ban folks for almost any reason now days.

      /rant off

Believe it or not I've not lost an adsense account or had a site delisted, but have a lot of friends who have. Just used to LOVE Google and they've changed so much over the years.

Back on topic. I have a decent sized twitter following but it seems most folks on twitter are not that engaged with it. On FB, people are online there a LOT. There's a high percentage of people in all age groups who are certifiably addicted to FB. To me, that makes a much more fruitful advertising base.

  • I would say Facebook hands down completely! FB is very user friendly and there are many ways that you can use it to increase your email subscribers list. You can use FB groups, Fanpages or use their CPC or CPM Models. Are you doing list building with twitter?
  • Organic or paid? I think both platforms are now increasingly accurate with targeting on the paid side. On the organic side it has to be Twitter that is my preference purely because you can respond to someone's tweet and jump straight into conversation even if they don't follow you.

For e.g. you sell SEO services and search twitter for latest genuine seo queries. It's a great way to build relationships. This just isn't possible on Facebook due to privacy settings.

On the paid side however, the reach you can get from Facebook is incredible.

One more thing, Twitter is excellent for PR. All the journalists are on it and very active. Just search for the hashtag #journorequest and see for yourself!

  • It's Facebook. Twitter needs double energy because of too many Fake accounts LOL.

    • lol you cant say so.. Fb have fakers as well
  • Certainly Face Book is better than Twitter.
  • I would say Facebook is #1, it has a few more advantages: For example videos. They're becoming more and more important because they can easily entertain and mostly doesn't require any efforts like understanding written words or something. Like I you can see here about facts about online video, Facebook is now number two after YouTube in terms of unique video viewers. That shows the importance of videos - and twitter tries to keep up with Vine.

  • It is time to check in on the battle between Facebook and Twitter for dominance of the social media LOL. I like Facebook and Twitter both, with a slight edge to Twitter for it value as a news source and as a vehicle for B2B and B2C. Facebook does so well with the former. But instead of these two, my choice is Google+ which combines the best of both worlds and comes with built in SEO.

  • For business and advertising, I think Twitter is more effective. More business owners are active on Twitter.
  • There's no reason to choose. Both networks have huge audiences and, regardless of your business, it's very likely segments of your market use both networks. Learn the proper etiquette of each network and combine their strengths. If you're doing any type of content marketing (and you should be), you would be stupid not to use both networks.

Aside from that, there's a lot of really bad advice from some people in this thread. If you're impression of Twitter is still that it's only for celebrities or people wanting to broadcast every minute event in their life like brushing their teeth, you really shouldn't be giving advice about social media marketing. That was decent advice 2007; it's terrible advice now.

There is an incredible amount of substantive discussion on Twitter. There are tons of business opportunities on Twitter. It is, by far, a much better method of spreading your content quickly. It is quite a lot easier to grow an audience, because Twitter is extremely open compared to Facebook.

Twitter is absolutely not just for celebrities any more and it's not a feed of mindless updates anymore, assuming it ever was.

Perhaps for you. For me, it is one of the highest drivers of traffic and they stay on the site just as long as visitors from Facebook.

I have 1,300 followers -- such is the beauty of Twitter. You don't need hundreds of thousands of followers to make an impact anymore than you need hundreds of thousands of fans on Facebook to make an impact. The ability to share via retweet increases reach of updates very easily and quickly.

    • You must not be dealing with the same kind of traffic numbers as me. I could be mistaken but for you to say that Twitter is your highest source of traffic tells me you don't get very much traffic from anywhere else or at all.
    • For Twitter to be your largest source of traffic and from only 1300 followers leads me to believe that you don't get much of any traffic from anywhere else, let alone much from twitter itself.

Facebook is a traffic powerhouse if you know how to use it properly.

I could be mistaken, but thats' just what i'm seeing from running a super high traffic authority site.
  • I think facebook is better than twitter.Facebook appeals to people looking to reconnect with old friends and family members or find new friends online; the mashup of features like email, instant messaging, image and video sharing, etc. feels familiar, while Twitter is a bit harder to get your arms around at first.
  • Facebook is better with different functionality like groups, pages, places, etc
  • I would say facebook by the look's of it most of us here are of the same opinion.
  • It depends on what you're selling, and where your audience hangs out.

For us, for instance, we sell customer referral programs to businesses and marketers. Most of these people are easier to reach on Twitter than on Facebook. So Twitter gives us a much better ROI.

Facebook is better for reaching "regular" consumers- if you're selling dresses or shoes, for instance, or Oreos.

Know thyself, know thy product, and know ye audience!

  • I prefer FB... I use/ have both but the average person on fb may have between 100-200 friends and may like a few pages but if you are on twitter most people are following hundreds - thousands of people so your news feed is forever ticking over, and who scrolls their twitter news feed.. not me so its harder for people to see what your saying, promoting etc where as on FB your fan base are more likely to see what you have to say.. Plus you cant really having a meaning conversation on twitter..
  • In my opinion, whatever facebook or twitter, they have each own advantage.i both like them very much, but it so regretful for me that i can use them freely.if we want to login them,we need to via the vpn tool.

    • Interesting back and forth.

I launched a new site 3 weeks ago and have been integrating all social media.

I do social media duties on a daily basis. I've added 50 people on twitter almost daily.

      What is interesting...

The top 3 social media referrals based on google analytics are:

      1. LinkedIn

      2. Facebook (however, I wasn't using a facebook fan page, but my own personal. And I only mentioned my page 2 times out of 20 posts. So I'm sure this would be #1 if i posted to my personal every day.)

      3. Google Plus.

Twitter.... isn't even in my top 15 traffic referrals in my google analytics.

And as other people have mentioned there are a lot of fake accounts and DM's aren't read in my personal experience.

Thought I would share this. I'm sure others may differ. But Twitter is a large uphill grind with little ROI in terms of time commitment that could be allocated to other social media for me personally.

I still have twitter automatically tweet for me my blog posts for seo, but other than that... I think i have to put twitter to rest.
    • Good question Twitter has more brand appeal than facebook. Most big name musicians, athletes, entertainers etc prefer twitter. There's a reason for that, and twitter is just straight to the point. It only allows you 140 characters, so you have to think and not beat around the bush when writing your status.

As it's said, facebook is like your living room and twitter is like the bar. If you have a lot to say and want to more engage your group, then facebook is for you. If you do shorter updates and want to respond more in a live chat type of way, then twitter is for you. And, facebook is too time consuming dealing with comments, likes, being tagged, added to groups without your permission, getting a million game invites lol, and the usual 100 "like my page invites" (from the same person ).

However, I have tested it. When it comes to sales, facebook does beat twitter hands down, I've made more sales on facebook than on twitter, and that's just with recommending through my status updates and not doing it through FB ads, so you will get more response because it get's people talking and joining in on the conversation, which pulls more attention overtime.

Most people however, prefer going to their favorite brands twitter profile before they do on facebook. That's why you usually see twitter being promoted everywhere. ofcourse it's wise to do both to reach a wider audience, but I'm a ole' school twitter head. Better for branding and making things go viral. Didn't facebook just copy twitter with the #hashtags? Just kidding

You have many different ways to use it - posts, pages, groups, ads etc. I've also noticed that on Twitter more people are trying to just get their message out and ignoring everyone else, while on Facebook people are actually reading the posts. That's just my experience...
  • It's not about selling on social, it's about bringing together a group of people (Facebook) that have similar interests or interacting with people on twitter based on similar interests and conversations.

Which is better? I agree with ReferralCandy- it depends on what your niche is.
    There's no right answer.

I'm interested in this thought, it's exact.
  • As an Internet Marketer I'd say using both Facebook and Twitter is crucial to grow your business. It's not a matter of which one is better but instead of how many sources of traffic you use...
  • If the question is which one is better for marketing then I will definitely say Facebook is better. Facebook has a large audience and it offers more oppurtunities to do marketing. We just have to take the right marketing way via Facebook according to our niche. Because every niche can have different demand of engagement.
  • Both have their purpose and if you have a website, you must use Twitter as well as Facebook. However, I must say I earned a good amount of money with CPA offers on Facebook without website and direct links. I would not have been as successful with Twitter.

    • You're never going to get a definitive answer for this question. Asking to choose between Facebook and Twitter is like asking people to choose between Coca-Cola and Pepsi, Because it's really not about which social networking site is better. It's about which site is best for your specific goals.

Twitter is the most effective way to post your information, because you just need to type several lines and then you can finish posting your information. However, I like Facebook more than twitter because facebook allows us post information in details and facebook give us more options to communicate with our friends.

  • I like both Facebook and Google+, though I'm not ignoring Twitter as it allows me to send out short burst messages to my followers. Also, since these tweets are public, they are picked up in a feed, when proper hashtags are used. And, so the tweets are likely to be seen by more than just my Twitter followers.

  • Hands down to Facebook! They are the 2nd best website behind Google and over Youtube. But I would recommend that you should use both Facebook and Twitter for your own campaigns.
  • They are both very good marketing tools, but I prefer Facebook. I do use both though, and encourage everyone to use as many social media platforms as possible. Facebook is good because you get more options when setting up a fan page compared to a Twitter account and there's a bigger chance of a post going viral.
  • No love for Tumblr? You can set up your tumblr to feed into both your facebook and twitter feeds
  • [DELETED]
  • I agree that each of them has their own advantage, but if you have to choose want then evaluate your target market(are they using twitter or facebook?). It is still advisable to get exposure as much as you can.
  • There's some good comments here, both for and against. I think Facebook is easier and quicker to build a following but Twitter can be a useful second tool.
  • Social media trend is the most effective tool to spread your news and reach millions of people in no time. There are many sites leveraging day by day, but I'd focus on 2 major sites-
    Facebook and
    Twitter

Why most people fail to benefit from social media campaigns?
I'm a sufferer and learned from failed attempts. That's why I can share my story to make you build better audience. Most campaigns do fail due to improper planning, over usage, untargeted audience and poor landing pages. I heard many people investing a lot of money for social promotions that resulted in digging their pockets.

Facebook overhaul: If you take a look at FB pages, you'll find hundreds of fanpages having 50,000+ fans. But how many get conversions? Probably less than 5%. That means 95% people are loosing bucks.
Once a people contacted me to sell his page with 150,000 fans. He wanted to sell because he can't make a penny from it.
There are lots of pages you'll find thousands of fans, but 0 interaction, no people like or comment on it.

Twitter overhaul: Same goes for twitter. Most of massive twitter follower-base profiles go without earning. About hundreds cheap fiverr gigs are available who want to tweet to their 100,000+ followers for 5 bucks.
Once I used one of them, that resulted me only 2 clicks. Holy gossss.
Most twitter users suffer from this scenario.

    Which one wins?
To get fans is not easy, you've to do lots of works. You can use exchange services, but facebook frequently bans such pages.
Comparatively its easy to get twitter followers. There are handy software that can give you targeted followers, damn cheaper than facebook ads. And twitter exchange programs really work fine. Twitter directories work great to gain targeted followers.

Next one is placing links. how many links you can post on FB? Probably very few, if you post more 2-3 links at a time, FB will block you.
But you can post min 20 links on twitter without getting boiled. And most important key is you can post same link over and over 2-3 times a day. If it happens for FB, fans will leave and FB may blacklist you.

Getting traffic: Facebook drives quick traffic for photos, not for all links. 1%-5% CTR is very common for fanpages while some act very poor.
Twitter CTR is reasonably low, ideally we expect 0.5%-1.5% and it depends on 140 letters quality. But you can tweet same link 5-10 times, means 5-10 times traffic to your site.

I'm writing my words. And like to know what others see outcomes from these 2 giant networks.
    • [1] reply
    • Impressive calculations.
But I fear how much it works for the rest, may be true for a few handy people while most of others go for looking.

    • Great point that you have made. When you use a variety of social media, you are more likely to hit a larger section of an audience than if you only use one. Even if you can not be on it daily, it does pay to make an account and use it once in a while.
  • I use them all together. I just make a blog and use Twitter, FB, Youtube. Better to use all than just 1 in my opinion. All in how you structure what you are doing.
  • Personally I would vote for Facebook because based on my experience twitter is difficult to penetrate since it's fast pacing and I'm getting a hard time to track down my past conversation. Maybe it just about finding the right social media platforms that works for you.

  • At the end of the day, our preferences don't matter. What does matter is where your target market is - and where you're merchants, brands & market leaders are.

Someone asked earlier why an average person would even use Twitter. The answer: because mainstream media is constantly encouraging it. Just turn on the TV and watch the hashtags flying all over the place!

If you're targeting a female audience, you need to be on Pinterest. Male/Tech, Google+. If you have a service-based business or target Professionals: LinkedIn. Want to network with brands and/or get sponsors & paid blogging opps: Twitter.

So it's less about your preferences, and more about serving your market, as well as your specific objective.

why you think Linkedin is better for business ?
can you show me some reasons.
  • The differences between the two networks are substantial and in some ways a direct comparison between the two is actually difficult to make. Twitter is simple while Facebook offers a more complicated way.

  • In my opinion Facebook is better option as compared to Twitter .. because Facebook has world's largest user network so obviously you can get lots of traffic through FB.
  • Facebook and Twitter Both have their own use.

If you have good twitter followers you can use it other wise you can much concentrate on facebook.
  • Facebook's most common use is to keep people informed of what's happening. It's become a scrapbooking site, where people archive important moments in their lives. Twitter focuses on speeding things up, often becoming a source in and of itself.
  • Facebook -- without a doubt.
  • Facebook for me. I have used both for marketing my site but I found Facebook traffic to be much higher quality, and I found it easier to get traffic too. Facebook fan pages are a lot easier to promote than Twitter accounts, and you can reach out to so many people. You can take advantage of viral photo's too, and hold competitions a lot easier as well. Don't completely ignore Twitter though, it is useful too.
  • Defiantly Facebook.

It is the most active social media site.
  • I get positive result after using twitter, so i will go with twitter
  • I personally have never made a dime from Twitter or seen traffic coming from it and i have more followers on Twitter than I do on Facebook. I guess it all depends on who your target audience is, what your niche is and and what you're selling to them as well as the quality of your followers.

When I check the social profile of my list very few of them have twitter accounts but they all have facebook profiles.
  • There's SO much you can do to build your business on various social channels - much more than just "selling" to your followers. Including connecting with brands, merchants, affiliates & JV partners, market leaders / influencers, etc.

You may not see a high (direct) conversion rate on Twitter for example, but what if a major brand promotes your offer to their thousands of Facebook Fans (totally unsolicited highly targeted FREE advertising) based on a Tweet they saw because you used the right hashtag? This is from my own personal experience, and has happened more than once.

EVERY social channel has huge potential. It's a matter of using it correctly, and having a specific objective that strategically grows your business.
  • [DELETED]
  • OK in my opinion you should be taking advantage of as many traffic getting methods as you can. Both Facebook and twitter have their own merits, and if you are merely using either or both for social bookmarking purposes, you won't lose out.

I for one take advantage of these and others social sites with no great investment of my time.
I guess my answer is used judiciously both are of value, and you don't need to spend too much time in analysis of these two.

Just take the traffic they give you......
  • Facebook CPC is great source to gather traffic. I use Facebook ads frequently and getting lot of traffic from Facebook ads. Use of social media in a proper way will definitely lead to a huge traffic.

  • Facebook, still.
  • Personally, I find Facebook as place from where my personal friends post their rants and that makes me annoyed that is why I prefer Twitter more. I can express myself more on Twitter and I find more serious people from there.
  • Facebook is definitely bigger and everything, but Twitter does offer marketers more freedom when it comes to approaching potential followers: it doesn't restrict you from talking to users who aren't following you yet.

This can be a very powerful advantage when you're just starting up and nobody yet knows who you are.
  • Fb, Facebook , Facebook.com is the best one for me.

  • Both Facebook and Twitter have distinct advantages and disadvantages, so in marketing they should be use to complement each other, and not a one vs other choice. There are people on Twitter who are not avid Facebook users and vice versa. Therefore to get to both crowds, you need to have marketing strategies for both FB and Twitter. My humble opinion.
  • They are quite different social networks. And it is difficult to say which one is better. It should depend on your needs and thus you can decide which is better for you. It is not possible to judge from outside.
I personally do not use Twitter, but plenty of my friends like it. And I rarely use Facebook (but I used to use it a lot before), I just got tired of Internet communication. I prefer it in real life now
    Good luck with your choice!
  • Facebook to Twitter is like apples and oranges. It really depends on your objective.

I personally don't spend much time on Facebook. Nor does my company spend much energy advertising on there. Why? Because Facebook is purely a consumer network where as a marketer, what you are trying to do, is intrude on individuals' personal communication with their friends and family. Granted, Facebook is becoming incredibly accurate at targeting demographics with ads, but it will always be a place where people are AVOIDING hearing from you and looking at your ads.

On the other hand, Twitter, while its user base is not as large, and it's not quite as sophisticated at targeting ads, it is much more natural to be marketed to when you're on there. What you may not realize is that people are increasingly using twitter as a source of information - what articles to read, what news just broke, etc. I've never experienced another service that, when i see an ad (in this case a sponsored tweet), i actually read them, because they're so natural to what I'm already doing on Twitter.

The only service that trumps Twitter's ability to naturally market to its audience is the big G. People go to Google to find things, so being advertised to, and in turn helping people more easily find what they were searching for (adwords) will always be king in internet marketing.

As a general rule of thumb, if you're advertising to consumers, Facebook may seem like the place to do so, but in the long run you're likely going to have more success engaging with and marketing to an audience that wants to be engaged with - such as Twitter.

    • Are you making these claims based on your own experience marketing on Facebook?

I can tell you from personal experience and from the experiences of people I mastermind with that people on Facebook do not "AVOID" looking at your ads. They are on Facebook TO be engaged. And they will buy or take whatever action it is you want them to take if you put the right offer in front of them.

At least they do from me and countless others - says my ROI.

Maybe you weren't doing it right. Either way if you don't use Facebook as one of your marketing channels you are leaving A LOT of money on the table.

  • From our research, if you are talking about conversions, Facebook converts 1-5%, Twitter converts 1-3%. We are in the bar/restaurant vertical, so keep that in mind. These are the numbers to convert people to a physical location. Mobile coupons convert in the 10-25% range. You would need to organically generate your own Opt-In list to send out those coupons and/or contacts via text. More work but better results.

  • yup, I'm votin facebook too
  • I use both. The main reason for me using them are for backlinks to my content. Facebook feels more personal. With Twitter though you could have a large amount of people following you but I would say 98% of the time no one see your tweets. Think about it how often do you look at all your followers tweets.
  • It is quite difficult to draw comparison between Facebook and Twitter, Both Facebook & Twitter has there own benefits & Limitation. On one hand where Face book offer you reach your audience through social media business page, get instant feedback regarding your products, service, sharing etc. On other hand Twitter provide platform for increasing your follower, re-tweeting facilities etc. Choosing of Facebook or Twitter does depend on the Geographics region of your country. what people or audience prefer over the other.
    • [1] reply
    • With the new drop in organic reach on Facebook, a post gets just about the same number of views as on Twitter...and that is about 1-2% of the number of followers.

So between Facebook and Twitter I choose E-mail Marketing (20% or more)
  • Facebook for sure for businesses. You can do so much more including Facebook promote, Facebook ads and reach out to more people. One advantage of Twitter is their hashtag, but Facebook implemented that feature!
  • I would say Facebook since they keep on adding features especially the hashtag available on the said popular platform. They also had advertisement for online retailers or website owners to promote their site.

  • Two different animals which serves different purposes. I find myself on FB most of the time because it is more content driven. IMO FB is great for B2C advertising-that's if your clients are individual consumers. If you are B2B, Twitter "may" benefit you more. I say use both and link the two accounts. Post on FB and it will auto tweet. Can't really compare the two at this point. We'll see which one is better once Twitter goes public(IPO).

OTOH, Twitter is trending younger with 27% between 18 & 29 (vs. 30-40s only 8%). End of the day, I'd use Twitter to support and build buzz but Facebook to seal the deal.

If you know how to use them both you can leverage their different demographic and take advantage of it.

  • When we think of Facebook, first thing that comes in mind is images, videos, likes, comments, interactions, etc. With Twitter, points that strike are 140 characters, new updates, latest updates, followers, tweets, etc. There is a link between these two social media sites and that is the use of "Hashtags" which was introduced recently.

Both are at the top and trending today in social media. Both rock in their own ways.

The purpose is that Facebook is well-known among every age team, so you get large viewers for your item or web page.
  • facebook is more common between us than twitter now days. facebook is having more features than twitter. so that you can generate more traffic from facebook.

  • Hi, Twitter and FaceBook have both been gaining so much popularity. A lot of people would argue that Twitter is better than FaceBook, while others prefer FaceBook over Twitter. I am a huge fan and user of both social media platforms. Twitter drives the most traffic of all the major social networks ! A study showed that shares made on Twitter trigger, on average, 33 visits to websites, compared to 14 for Facebook and 10 for LinkedIn. I can confirm this fact, as I study everyday's clicks on this blog - and the majority of visitors come from Twitter. Twitter is better than Facebook because I feel as if a lot more people now have a Twitter. At one point Facebook was popular but then people switched over to Twitter because people are able to post pretty much whatever they want. And say almost anything that they want. Also, it is also much simpler so its easier for the adults who do use it. Have a nice day

  • Facebook. THere is nothing better than having a truthful fan community around a certain topic on Facebook. Twitter is much more limited concerning the options you have to build a lasting relationship with your fans. Furthermore, twitter doesn't allow to buy followers legally. In case of Facebook, you can purchase "likes" and take your business to your next level. Content goes also more viral on Facebook than on Twitter.
  • Facebook over here!

  • This is a tad like fanboys arguing if Superman or Thor would win in a fight. Facebook and Twitter are totally different creatures, each with its own capacities and advantages. It's not about figuring out which one is objectively better, it's about finding the optimal solution for your own business.

And Thor would totally kick Kryptonian butt, by the way.

I don't think so, what are different ways, can you show in detail ?
  • In my opinion both social networking site have their own importance we can not compare each other as their format is completely different as on twitter their is some limitation of words on post where as there is no word limit on facebook for post and comment and there is some limited access and restriction on twitter, but these things are very lees on facebook in comparison to twitter. If we talk about traffic from these two sits i think twitter provides more traffic in comparison to facebook because of its restriction on word limit that is why it only provide the specific description for detailed description we need to follow the link so most of the time people make their tweet attractive so that user can follow the link whereas on facebook their is lots of thing is their without any restriction so it is difficult to make a post unique and attractive enough to draw the traffic.

  • Well I say Facebook because it has the ability for people to get to know you before you even sell them anything... You can also start up chats with people easier and have a complete log of conversations for years... Which makes it easy to remember what you talked about before with that same person!

I say use both to help build each other! I used twitter to build my Facebook friends fast and that has worked wonders in my business!
  • Generally they are both perfect if you know which one where and how to use. They are both good for different areas and you can benefit from them differently. Twitter is more for sharing short texts. If you have a news or some phrases to share twitter can get you better results by tweeting, use it as rss feed. For other stuffs use facebook. You also can use twitter to tweet your facebook posts. The audience that you can reach in both may be different. That's why if you use both in the right way, you will be able to benefit from both and reach audiences in both that you may not be able to reach at only one of them. Differ both from each other.
  • I've been seeing more action - retweets, follows, favorites, traffic - from Twitter over the past month. About zero from Facebook, even from a page with 14k followers.

I LOVE the simplicity of Twitter and the streamlined look. I plan to use it to help sell my Amazon books.

Plus with 4756385656439 users, Facebook is too full of people. I choose to be a bigger fish in a smaller pond with Twitter, instead of a single-celled organism in an ocean with Facebook.

Of course, you can link them all from one dashboard...

  • I will prefer as compare with twitter due to its lot of extra and amazing features.
  • This is an apples to oranges comparison. They are two different animals. Best advice I ever got was from Scott Stratten's book "Unmarketing". He explains why both are important.
  • Off course, Facebook have more visters then Twitter,
Facebook have fan page option meanwhile, Twitter has no fan page options.
Facebook also offers PPC (Paid Campaigns) for advertiser, and Twitter has not any options.
so i would like to recommend FaceBook and Google Plus for best Advertiser, Twitter is just only for Personal Tweets.
  • Hmm , Here my vote is for twitter, Based on our research, and from others resources as well, what i have found is- Twitter is the fastest indexing website after cnn and bbc. The another resion why i am with Twitter is - twitter has fastest growing rate across the world.

P/S : Do you know which soft can create this diagram ? Look so great and professional !
  • Facebook is better. If you're good with social marketing then i would suggest using Facebook.
  • With Facebook you can build more of a relationship with your prospects and customers, which will turn them into more of a life long customer if done right.

Where as Twitter is more of waving hello to people, it will drive a lot of traffic and make a few sales but that's it pretty much a drive by. Now if you can drive them back to facebook have them like your page, then you can target them on both platforms.

But hands down Facebook is better and for many reasons.
  • That would be depend on your preferences or niche that you are into I personally go for both of it but I'm more of a Facebook user than Twitter
  • This isn't a fair question, really. It's like "Apples or oranges?" They are two different things. If you're going to have to choose only one thing for some reason, then Facebook all the way (to the bank!) but if there's no reason you can't have a twitter account as well then have both. Depending on your niche, you can really get a lot of bang for your buck.

  • It would have to be Facebook, although for a complete campaign I would not avoid using Twitter totally. It almost depends on your niche, but I would expect most marketers and businesses to get more out of Facebook every time. The proof is in the pudding - I've had leads and reasonable traffic from both, so I wouldn't choose one over the other unless your time is very limited.
  • Facebook is better than twitter
  • Facebook is undoubtedly where you want to be right now.
  • For personal use, I have always seen Facebook being the best and to me, Twitter isn't even a comparison. Unfortunately when it comes to business, both have pros and cons. I have found that businesses starting up on social media get a lot more traffic via Twitter. It seems like it takes twice as long to build up a page on Facebook versus on Twitter. Like someone already mentioned, a lot of the people that respond, follow you, and etc. are spam or aren't valid/reputable pages. It is important to be on both to reach out to different types of audiences, and it is also nice to not have a word limit on Facebook. It's also important to get the word of your pages out through people you know, and have ones that have an influence in your industry to pass it along...the old 'word of mouth' sometimes works better than paying for followers.
  • I see a lot of people saying Facebook, so i will play devils advocate here and side with Twitter

    Here are the facts

Twitters IPO did much better than Facebook. Its IPO per share valuation almost double in the first 24 hours.
Twitter has much more room for growth. Twitter is respectively just getting started
Twitters share of Mobile Platform was 70%
Twitters Advertising is much more user friendly because it focuses on engagement rather than clicks or views
Facebook has become more of an anti-social network lately...i digress on that one
Twitter spends more of its revenue on R and D than any other social network platform

There are other reasons but I will leave it at that. Just another viewpoint on the discussion
  • Facebook and Twitter isn't a good comparison. Both can make you money, but FB is hot right now and every marketer knows.

You can generate money with Twitter, but you have to get interactive with the community; and stop hyper-posting your affiliate links. Twitter is more like a cat, you have to earn its respect.

Now, if you want to spark a real conversation, compare Facebook to Google+ and take a pulse of the market. The Big G is the silent killer. So remember this, when everyone is going right... the future is left. (There's opportunity here for the smart marketer.)

  • Almost people think that Facebook is better than Twitter. If there is a poll, I think facebook will have more than 80%.
  • No reason not to use both, if only to cross promote by having your tweets point to your Facebook page posts.
  • Facebook and twitter both are having their own value in social media. Twitter is simple and easier than facebook. In facebook we should spend more time than twitter's tweets...
  • Facebook is better.
  • Both Social sites are famous but as per my opinion Facebook is best because it gives many option to make your post more popular. Twitter is also best site but its sounds good for famous person. If anyone just started to social sharing then Facebook is best for initial level.
  • Facebook for profile and low cost advertising. Creating YouTube Videos can be a very powerful way to draw traffic. The only thing I found twitter good for was sending my twitter followers to my Goodreads page.
  • Face book is better then twitter. Face book is user friendly...

  • I think Facebook have some advantage over twitter that Facebook have more trust between friends so that when you promote a product there you are most likely to get results with Facebook. However it all depends on your own behavior on those social websites, how many followers or friends you have and the amount of engagement you have. you have to test by your own to see which one is better for you.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • The trust element is a huge factor with online audiences. When you can establish trust with the people you are marketing to, you have a better chance of converting into traffic/sales. These people want useful information that enriches their lives. And, friends are perfect for sharing with online as they are more likely to listen to what you have to say.
  • It depends upon your business or marketing objective and your most wanted TG, if you look at PR twitter is PR10 which is one among very few and FB is PR9. FB offers various options to target or reach right TG, Twitter does not have that. And in advertisement point of view also facebook is better than twitter. But lot of practising marketers claim that Twitter drives better quality traffic than FB.
  • I have always seen Facebook being the best and to me, Twitter isn't even a comparison
  • Twitter is a great tool to reach people and make them aware of your brand. Here are some tips to get you going:
    1. Define Market
Your tweets won't work in a scattered community. Identify your audience and engage with them.
    2. Follow others
Following others will help you get more followers. You will also have to follow the right people or brands. Three types of people you should be following are Potential Clients, People who will spread your message and your rivals.
    3. Test
Test and experiment with different techniques and strategies. You will be learning at the same time finding out what works best for you.
  • both are good but if i have choice to pick one i will choose FB for sure

and I get lots of results compare when I use
    Twitter.
  • If you look at it from a market capitalisation basis Facebook wins over Twitter that just IPOed. You can really see the perceived value from there.
  • Twitter is definitely easier for generating followers. But the disadvantage is that since the newsfeed flows so fast, your tweet is likely to completely disappear within an hour after you post it, therefore it requires much more energy to remain relevant.

Facebook has more diversified ways of presenting your message, and the newsfeed moves much slower. But the hard part is to generate "likes" or followers. If you have a good base on Facebook, I would say Facebook is better.

  • Lol, there are so many threads about Facebook and Twitter which one is better. Do they make any influence to your business ?

    • With only 140 characters to get your point across it's kind of difficult to fully disclose of your benefits to your offer in Twitter. Where as Facebook has the ability to post ad pics that are more visual.

One benefit however to Twitter is that it is free unless you opt in to use ads on their network. If you know the precise method you can get your clicks down to 0.01 on Facebook which should help recoup some of your spending.

I find that with Facebook you have a better chance of going viral because of the like and share component of Facebook. Re-Tweets can catch on but likes on people's pages can go viral a lot quicker.

  • Hi guys,

More me facebook is off the chart,

Here are few tips which I am using for all my 10 pages and my fan following is growing and growing. Hope you'd find it helpful.

    Legit Tips:

    1. Change your Facebook page URL:

Well first of all you should change your facebook page URL to a custom URL something Like this facebook.com/yourcustomURL.

    2. Customize your page like a professional:

This one is must, Only having a facebook fan page is not enough for your blog/website/business, you got to do same serious customization like...

    a) Creating a cool looking timeline pic
    b) Add other socail media Tabs like twitter and youtube.
    c) Sign Up form so that people can subscribe to your email list. In this way, you can also build your Email List.
    d) Add "Visit My blog or website" custom tab
    e) Write description about page and do forget to add your blog and website URL in that and Make it sort and precise.

    3. Post during Peak hours:

I mean how can you expect someone to like your page when they are sleeping or doing other stuff ????

To find out the "peak hour", post 2 and 3 content at different time and check on what time your post is getting more responce. Note that time and try to post only that time.

    4. Be consistent.

If you are posting only one post per day, make sure do that because it may be chance that your followers are waiting for your content.

    5. Do not buy facebook likes:

Now if you want to promote your page.....do it in legit way. Hire facebook page....hahahaha Good line "Hire facebook"...okay hire facebook to promote your page.

I promoted my 3 pages using facebook and i can tell that its really cheap(100 likes for only 1 dollar) and your going to get quality followers.

    6. End your post with ?????

Yes this always works, end your post with one or two questions and let your followers answer then.

You'd see that sometime your one post can create one "war room" where your followers are fighting with each and other......and you are going to love that .

    2.Tricks :

Now as you know, "too much honesty can kill you", its time to learn some tricks.

I think you have already heard about like exchange websites....if not simply search on Google.

If you are using any of these website, here is one tips that you may find interesting.

As you know all like exchange website are providing affiliat program and they are asking you to share their links on facebook, twitter, google.....blah blah...

just share that link on your facebook account and then add that post to those website for sharing. got my point or not ,

okay let me explain one more time.

Whatever like exchange website you are using right now, it is also giving you their affiliat program...right?

Share your affiliat program on your facebook timeline and then add this post to your like exchange website for sharing....now two thing is going to happen.

    1. if someone is going to sign up through you post, you'd get extra points for it.
    2. Other people are sharing your stuff so it may be chance that their friends are going to like you page.

Ohhh boyyyy, I can't believe, I have written this much.....okay guys one more

    Last Tip

if you'd face any problem during your facebook page customization, you can visit my blog because i have written everything which you are going to need for your page customization. And the best thing is, you can customize your page for FREE by using my methods.

    Hope you liked it.

  • I think Facebook is better then twitter. Because Twitter has 140 character tweet limit but facebook have probably 1500 character post limit. So you can share more details about your thinking or business or opinion.
Other hand, Facebook is more popular then twitter due to chatting option. There is more Reason that's why Facebook is better then Twitter.
  • The option has to be Facebook because of the age groups.
This can really depend on the niche; the target but usually I would go for Facebook.
  • I have only used Facebook & I have had great success with them.

  • Dear I saw some interesting replies in this thread. But let me put it straight

Facebook and Twitter Go Hand In Hand if you really want to succeed in getting traffic in social media marketing.

For me both get subscribers daily and are working wonderfully well. THe only difference in pproach that I suggest is -

    1. Facebook - Use More Pictures in your posts.
    2. Twitter - Use Youtube Videos more than pictures in tweets.

This way it is working great for me!
  • Both are the best Social media site and both are very effective for all social media users. Some times ago Facebook is more popular then Twitter but Facebook lose his Fan Following and Twitter become more popular. Now Twitter has PR10 and Facebook has PR9. So we cannot say that one is better but both are better.
  • [DELETED]
  • For me i will say twitter. Only 140 characters and i am good to go.
    • [1] reply
    • Facebook because of the age groups to be targeted but Twitter is growing and growing very fast !
  • Instead of asking "Which is better?" I'd rather see a great breakdown on how to use, say Twitter, to drive website traffic.

For example, back in 2008, I'd get a 30% re-follow and 10% of them would opt-in to one of my sites. Times have changed. Now I see folks using auto favorites and the like.

Anyway, I'd love to see a good up-to-date primer.

I have found twitter good for starting high-level relationships. Like the guy I interviewed and established relationship with that sold his business for $100,000,000. Twitter currently has helped me target a number of relationships like that which are not possible on Facebook.
  • I say Twitter myself. Apart from the fact that I'm told Zuckerberg is an odious little prat (I've never met him, but trusted friends have), I don't like that you have to go through so many hoops to friend someone, to post things and to do all sorts of other things essential for marketing on faceache. Obviously, the 140 character limit on Twitter is a bit of a drag too, but at least they don't have the Internet equivalent of the Spetsnaz hauling you up every time you do too much friending or liking.

Of course, as with all things online and elsewhere, you have to be careful not to let your activities go beyond the pale - don't break any laws, don't spam, don't generally piss people off - but I like the more "Californian hippy" approach of Twitter. And because I'm not always looking over my shoulder for a snarling Stazi, I can concentrate on my job.

  • Good question and you'll get a ton of different answers as everyone uses them differently for different purposes - not sure how many permutations that little mix will throw up!!

For me they both have different aspects, etc:~

    Facebook

    • Highly targeted traffic
    • Paid and free options
    • Traffic from groups or from pages
    • Bigger market audiences
    • Cost of paid ads
    • Pages can be monetised
    • Business friendly

    Twitter

    • Quick and easy
    • Good targeting
    • Limited to 140 characters
    • Can be automated
    • Can have an unlimited number of accounts
    • Easy to get banned
    • Business unfriendly

In Facebook, you can do a lot. Actually, you can do everything. The layout is perfectly fine for me. It's not that hard to understand everything I see on Facebook. Things look more persuasive in Facebook than in Twitter.
  • Wherever your buying customers gather most....

And where you can commit to spending the time....

That's where you should proactively market.

You can always use http://ifttt.com to push updates to other social networks automatically.....
  • i like facebook it's very simple
  • from diffen.com

"People say that Facebook is for connecting with the people you went to school with and Twitter is for people you wished you had gone to school with. While Facebook is a multi-purpose social networking platform, allowing users to chat, post photos and notes, and play games, Twitter is built around the posting of short 140 character messages, or "tweets." They are the two most popular social networks in the world. This comparison looks at their history, growth in user base, strengths and weaknesses."

Facebook and Twitter are two social media networking platform which can be an avenue to post, make friends, build networks and also earn money online. Maybe you need to see what is your purpose and focus for you to know what social site is better to use.

  • Give me FB anytime over Twitter. Twitter just works on my nerves, just a personal feeling, I like FB
  • [DELETED]
  • Both Facebook and Twitter have their advantages and disadvantages. I will say in my opinion most people seem to be much more active on Facebook these days.

But that does not mean leave Twitter out all together. Done right both platforms can provide you with countless people looking at your content.

    That's always a good thing.
  • Both are the best social networking site for promoting brands and resources, and each must consist of its own pros and cons. while zealots will directly point to their best social networking sites whether it is Twitter or Facebook. Each may have their own value as well as it depends on the situation that what they wants to accomplish. Therefore the selection will depends upon your situation.
  • Facebook Is best for me
  • I find Twitter more effective. Let's be honest, FB business pages (the design, versatility) suck. Their paid advertising is ok, but it still lags behind AdWords and Bing Ads in efficiency. When it comes to advertising I will choose Twitter over FB any day.
  • I think Facebook is better then twitter.Facebook is best for marketing, many people are aware on facebook as compare to twitter.
  • [DELETED]
  • really depends on how you target your audience inside of FB or use graph search, or fan page. I actually just started using Twitter a a few weeks and trying to build the following list. Using the @# tags can help target the leads that you want to create the value with.

Facebook graph search can help build a relationship with the potential business partners, fan page is more directed on paid ads to target the audience in bringing the traffic; if you can afford the ads I go for it.

Twitter is based off tweets, and you get quality leads on Twitter, I would talk a little more about Twitter, but as I said easier . I barely started using this method.
  • I agree with you friend.
  • Both the Best!
You can not ignore these 2 weapons if you really want to make money fast in IM or any online marketing niche.

The under mentioned area needs to be taken care off in both these sites.

    1. FACEBOOK - Join as many groups as possible and make qualitative posts and start making loads of friends and subscribers and make money.

Twitter - Make multiple accounts as this is not allowed in Facebook and follow and tweet and send DM and build up a relationship and grow it to a level that will fetch you money on autopilot.

I repeat that both are mandatory and you must not ignore them .
  • You can no doubt gain followers on both FB & Twitter. But I think the quality is better on FB because their attention span is better. Unlike, with Twitter where everything is fast-paced 140 characters and people are reading different content at a mile a minute!
  • Facebook if I have to choose but actually I prefer other social media such as Pinterest, Stumbleupon, Tumblr and so on.

    But that's just me.
  • I think you get the from Facebook, the people you get seem to be much more targeted for you particular niche.
  • Facebook is a good long term plan for business marketing, but Twitter can generate instant results as it's very live and busy with millions of visitors all tweeting and retweeting/interacting with each other's content. You just need to find the right people to interact with and they will lead you to others who will want to talk to you. These people will turn into your blog readers or product buyers.
  • LOL seen tons of replies and its bad.

Everyone with a good handle on social accounts target BOTH Facebook and twitter at the same time with the same effort not just Target FB and not twitter.

If you want to be great in your niche then I suggestion you do this, both give the same effort for FB and twitter
  • In my opinion facebook is best for traffic as compared to twitter. Because people from all around the world, of all ages, from childs to old people, from professionals to newbes are using facebook. Therefor facebook is best choice.

  • The development of your Twitter following will happen much more quickly and the more followers you have the faster it grows. I have grown something like 7000 more Twitter followers since April this year, so I must be getting search engine traffic there too.

Twitter is not as responsive as Facebook though. If you want more of a response from your following, you should build your Facebook fan page. If you can build the right following on Facebook using the tips, tricks and techniques that you will find in the ebook on my signature link, you will be able to grow a big, responsive and engaged following who will like and act on your posts.

Both of them has it's own benefit. Most of people don't know how to gain targeted traffic from twitter and say there is no chance to gain targeted visitors in IM/MMO niche. You must know the rules and techniques. There are lots of Free/Paid tools to manager your followers.
Also facebook is really awesome place to generate sales and leads. Again you must know the rules and techniques. People build their fanpages and get thousands of fan in two week.

    Good Luck

They don't seem to mind that being talked about there and she even sells ad space to advertisers, such as paid product reviews. Not sure how Facebook or Twitter would react to your linking to an adult type site, but Tumblr is more liberal. Another thing, check out Pinterest. You might be able to get away with posting 'safe for work' images and linking to your site.

  • Facebook (Period)
  • I like both Facebook and twitter. Both have their own advantages. Both are the best platforms for getting visitors for website.
  • Both are good but Facebook looking best because it is easy to use & had some good facility.
  • With over 1.3 billion users Facebook is the
largest social media network that you can't

Facebook is more user friendly compared to Twitter Nowadays
Atleast almost all facebook users login more than twice everyday on average
Facebook contests are effective in driving traffic to your fan page.

Generally Facebook is better than Twitter
  • It mostly depends on what you want. if youre looking for leads and traffic than twitter. if youre looking for conversions from leads to sales, then facebook.
  • I have not figured out how to best tap into Twitter but the speed of Twitter is INSANE. Coming up with a method or approach to get something to go viral on Twitter would be time well spent. 1 hit from 15 times at bat with Twitter could pay big dividends.

All that said, I agree the slower and steady work on FB that can have some level of exponential growth is probably the safer return on time investment.

    Great thread!
  • You can gain lot on followers on twitter in very short time and easily but for me Facebook is always more useful than twitter.
  • I think the Facebook is the best Social Networking site comparing then Twitter. Facebook are the very easily to promote your business product. Facebook have no limit for character but twitter have character limit on there post.

  • Social media is really gaining interest and many users are using social media pages to check updates about company or products or websites.

Facebook has the most visitors per day on it. It also has large number of member which has signed up.

Facebook is more user friendly to share valuable content amongst user. Facebook has most number of registered member as well as online member. So it has high traffic per day and this is major advantage of that it is better then Twitter.

Twitter has less traffic as compared to Facebook. Some people get confused with using twitter's Hash tag. This can be another issue.

Twitter has really improved and many people are now finding it easy to use Twitter due its mobile app.
  • Hmm, for direct sales advertisement and longer lasting advertisement I'd use twitter!

    Why?

Well if I post on Facebook on my fan page at 8am, by 8pm my content isn't relevant or can't be easily searched the way it can be on Twitter..

On twitter if I'm looking to buy a dress on sale, all I need to do is type "dress sale" and a bunch of people having dress sales will show up.. Unlike facebook...

I tend to use Facebook for my already existing customers, and twitter to build new customers
    • [1] reply

    • This is one of the best explanations I've seen so far as to why you should use Twitter. With the built in Twitter search function, your potential follower/customer has instant access to everything you have tweeted about over the years. And, your tweets are just as likely to rank higher with the on site search function as anyone else's, if they contain the relevant phrases being searched.

No doubt about facebook. It is very rapid way to get huge traffic to your site if you have more friends on facebook.

  • I use Facebook less and less these days. If I do use Facebook, I'm more inclined to build a group than a page. Why should I pay to build an audience and then pay to reach them, too? Besides, the whole Facebook model is flawed. Just because someone "likes" something doesn't mean they care about it. I might "like" Twix, but that doesn't mean I'll go out and buy one. It's far too easy to "like" something on Facebook.

Twitter, on the other hand, can be an extremely powerful tool if you use it properly. Followers who have no interest in what you promote are worthless. Followers for the sake of followers are also worthless.

But if you can build a following that actually has an interest in what you're all about, then you can "train" them to click your links by curating useful, related content. Note that this does not mean that you'll be spamming your links all day. Curation, by definition, means that you will be linking to other people's content more than your own. If you do, your engagement should go up steadily. You can track this from Twitter Analytics.
  • It depends upon the product or service you will be marketing and the people you will be targeting.

I have a blog about targeted traffic (facebook and twitter), you can read about it here.

The posting frequency is very different between the two networks. Twitter is a lot more agile here and you can post a lot more often. Twitter has the power of spreading fast and in a very short space of time. The life of a Tweet though shorter than Facebook is a lot longer than one would have expected.

Twitter is a disgusting site for its following system where anyone who is engaged with marketing system can't fill up instant target. otherwise facebook gives different facilities as marketing on (page, groups, huge friends) here.

  • In my opinion which is better deppends mainly in your target. In most cases Facebook will be better, but in niches like mine, people in general use it just in a personal way (no more interaction than between friends/family), or don't even have Facebook.

There are many reasons, but older people usually are more likely to use Twitter than Facebook, i.e., FB seems like a thing for kids or teenagers, twitter is simpler and easier to use, you can easily stay Anonymous on Twitter, people relate Twitter with "news" and facebook with "teenagers parties' pictures"
  • They both offer different things so it's hard to compare the two in my opinion.

Facebook is obviously the most popular due to the amount of people.

I am finding new alternatives, did you try FB ad?
  • I like both it helps different ways Fb can publish more Twits 140 c only
  • It depends on your goals and your audience.

Facebook is where more consumers hang out. Twitter is where more businesses would hang out, at least for networking and service-seeking.

Twitter is best for my content marketing business, because my own content that I market there is more likely to be shared and engaged with than if I marketed it on Facebook.

But when I re-launch my personal development blog, and eventually turn it into a business, Facebook is where I'll be focusing most of my efforts.

You basically want to focus on the social networks where 1) your target audience hangs out most and 2) where they're most likely to share and engage with your content. Because that's the whole point. To build those relationships and that following, get those people to your site, and convert them into whatever you want to convert them to.

This is a great discussion. Thanks for starting it.

  • They both have there strengths and weaknesses. Facebook's algorithm is pretty lame if you are doing no paid posts, but the facebook ads can be great if you have a good targeted offer to promote.

On the flip side Twitter Ads are very expensive. You can get things to go viral pretty quickly if you do it right. It really comes down to good content. If you have good stuff people will share it.

You can get lots of real and passionate readers. We just have to use proper hash tags. This is the condition, if you wanted to reach to thousands of people !

  • Facebook is the best for you because you want chat with your friends and stay connected meanwhile so that would do the thing.

  • Facebook is better than Twitter. Because Facebook gives me more traffic on my website.
  • i really wonder about this now. Since the Twitter already launch their ads. Anyone can confirm about the paid traffic? Which one is better?
  • 3 .... 2 ...... 1 ....... Facebooook!!

It always has been a step forward Twitter!

It has a highter number of subscribers and visitors!

Of course you should integrate your business with other social networks!!

  • Today, when internet users have divided into a large number of social media places. It is not good to rely on only one or too.
It is better to use Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Stumbleupon, Pinterest, Linkedin, Delicious, Reddit, Vine etc at the same time.

However if you typically talk about Facebook and Twitter. Than Facebook is much better as you have more control on it than Twitter.
  • Facebook.. as far as we are talking about earning potential from it..
  • Facebook is used by members for a variety of purposes. It is mainly used by individuals who wish to stay connected with, or reconnect with, people that they know offline. As well as maintaining a personal profile and posting messages on their "wall," users can upload photo albums and videos, share links, write long notes, send private messages to friends, text and video chat, and play games.Has around 7.87 billion.
Twitter allows users to post 140 character messages, or tweets, and follow the messages of other users on their Twitter feed. It is mainly used to communicate with other individuals with similar interests, regardless of whether users know one another off Twitter, and to follow updates from celebrities. Users can upload photos, share links and send private messages to people they follow.
So its up to you what does suits you more- I suggest to use them both :-)
  • [DELETED]
  • They work better together, depending on what is going on.
a lot o people use twitter to search something in specific. So what ever i promote, it will automatically come out on both... and some day Facebook is better, some-days twitter is better... it depends a lot on what you post...

on this is true, facebook if you use one line to advertise what ever... you will just get unnoticed... so you will always need to elaborate more with images or video... twitter with one single line of text you can get results... if you scale this up with what people are looking for... you can get better results then facebook with a lot less work...

So... use both in automatic... best way!

  • Facebook focuses on your friends to keep in touch. Here's friend and strong relationship management attributes.

  • Twitter is better than fb because there are too many "wanna-be". People are so desperate for so many likes on their picture they're willing to do anything. On fb when people update their status too much it gets really annoying but where as twitter you can update your tweets so much and there wouldnt be a problem because that is what twitter is for.

and it is getting traffic from Twitter ads?

  • Facebook is better than Twitter but you need both need to use/update them on doing social media marketing.
    • [1] reply
    • Not always. Facebook works like a charm when something needs to go viral. Twitter on the other hand when something needs to spread out fast.

When you tweet your point mainly should be to pass latest news from wherever about whatever. Correct way of using facebook focuses on getting mentioned viral traffic which is free and thats the point.

The other difference is that your twitter followers folows you for a reason right? You tweet as a real person, which gives you advantage lets say when you do affiliate marketing by recommendation ...

When you build facebook fan page you have 0 trust at the begining and depends on niche you need get likes, comments, reviews ... people needs to see that page is not only active, but provides mass of usefull content.

  • Twitter is more important to Facebook because twitter allow multiple hash tags and Facebook not allow multiple hash tags

  • I think twitter is a lot easier to get your name out for less money. Niche accounts can get your tweets thousands of retweets for <100 dollars. You can also add:

6---Twitter users are mostly from United States, Canada and Europe,
which means people with the highest buying power
7---The results are often instant, in the following hours (No weeks or months waiting for results!)
8---You don't need high writing skills - anyone can write an idea inside 140 characters
  • I think twitter is better than Facebook. Twitter is more popular than facebook right now.
  • TWITTER.....some days back I was a FB fan, but not now. Though both are good. If you are more business oriented, professional, brand conscious then TWITTER is your place. If you are casual, photo freak, want to let ppl know about your day & night then its FB.
I like FB but I like TWTR more. I can connect with business head honchos in TWTR, its tough in FB because they dont have any account there.
  • My personal opinion is twitter helps you target more accurately because people subscribe to your tweets based on personal interest. Whereas in FB you can get page like from irrelevant people if you push your page on their walls.

Twitter is more effective that way.

IMO, it depends on your target audience. According to studies, most women check Facebook while Men check Twitter. It also depends on what product you have. You also may want to make Facebook the main social media account you post on and make Twitter your sub, just to echo your posts from Facebook.

  • Indeed an interesting question, Well according to my way of thinking Facebook is much better then Twitter.

But one can not neglect the role of Twitter, in fact It is also a biggest competitor of Facebook. The difference between both platforms is only that Face is popular with every group of people.

While on the other hand over young generation is not as much active on twitter as they are active on Facebook.

It means Facebook is more popular then Twitter.
  • Off course Facebook is better because it is now world top social media network. Billions of users worldwide are using Facebook.

But in twitter most of them are real and able to buy product.

So twitter is the best for selling.
  • I don't think that it is good idea to compare this networks. It is the same situation if we will compare tomato and apple. Facebook and Twitter have different goals and tools. Every of this network is awesome in there own field.

The number of Facebook users, and the number of downloads of Facebook apps, all these speaks itself. Facebook is better than Twitter.
  • It depends on your goal, i use both and i get conversion from both. its you who have to decide which one you want to use and then create your plan for implementation. why to loose on the traffic which twitter can provide.
  • Both are the best social media and popular platform in the world.

Facebook has more than double the active users of Twitter, but twitter have less restrictions for posting contents.

Choose Facebook : if you have a little budget that can be put towards promoting your posts. You have a large follower base on your personal profile that you can leverage for your business page. You like to use a lot of photos for your products, as they tend to get a lot of interaction, which will then result in longer news feed staying power.

Choose Twitter : if you have a lot of content to share and plan to be proactive in your interaction with other accounts. You have a niche product or service that people might be using Twitter search to investigate. You want to share great information that's not directly tied to your company. Answering questions, retweeting, sparking up conversation, and being helpful on Twitter can lead to people investigating you more and following your account.
  • We ran an application with the target audiance of female millenials and regarding my experiences, Twitter worked better in our case, escpecially in the US. Our users also started to use Twitter as a support channel and shared more content there than on Facebook, while people were more engaged on Facebook in Europe and in our local fanbase. However, I would suggest to use both. I think these channels are must in the US and Europe and in addition, they are also two relatively cheap marketing channels for many products as well.

I agree that Twitter wins by far, and the points which you presented above are insightful and true.

      Thank you

  • Both are better. Facebook gets you easy views and twitter takes time. But both are good for SEO. Twitter need different strategy and facebook is easy
  • It is the most common question that has been asked many times on the forum and other sites as well. Well, Facebook and Twitter both have huge popularity and these platforms have huge active members in it. So, both can be effective as per the post or tweet and your business as well.
  • When we talk about business, I think that Twitter is better. At least, it provided excellent results for my company so far. However, this is all matter of opinion. Then again, you might want to do some research or perform a pole before using either one of those for your personal work. It might also have something to do with a particular demographics or it may depend on niche or industry.
  • Good Question! Thanks!! Undoubtedly its Twitter, that Gives you a more clients or customers to your business. You can find more groups from twitter page that are more relevant to your business whenever you need. Facebook also help but less when compared to the twitter.

  • I would say both because for me twitter and Facebook brings in good traffic and leads...its all depend on the style of promotion and approaching clients does matter.
  • It very much depends on what you are trying to achieve and who your audience is. Twitter is extremely valuable for brand interaction and collaboration with influencers while we understand the obvious benefits of Facebook. Let's ask that question then: What are you trying to achieve?

    • Twitter by a mile. Facebook is all about paying facebook, you even have to pay them to access your own likers. Ridiculous! Twitter traffic statistically converts at something like 2.5 times facebook and you don't have to pay one red cent to reach your own followers.

Ever looked at your facebook page stats on a non-promoted post? If you reach 2% of your base you are doing extremely well. How pathetic! Why anyone actually still pays them is beyond me.

I spent thousands on Facebook paying to build my fanbase, I gave them enough money just doing that, but for them that's not enough those greedy *******s want even more to reach the fans that I already payed through the nose to aquire. The truth is you can reach just as many people with a promoted post to non-fans as you can paying to reach your own fans. Very little point in building a fan base there anymore.

Yes I did make sales when I payed to promote a post, but I could do just as well with Adwords. Twitter on the other hand doesn't cost one thin dime to market to your own followers. And you can build your followers, slowly but surely, without paying either. The only trick would be that when you post a tweet you want to be sure to include a photo. It increases your response by orders of magnitude over just a text post, and since there is a limit to the characters you can post, you don't have to worry about trying to write tons of high end copy. Just a few keywords and hashtags and you are set. I dumped Facebook last year and never looked back.

  • Facebook use to be the best, but not its hard to engage with your likers without paying facebook. Twitter on the otherhand doesnt charge money for that.
  • Hi
It's a burning question for us.who is the better FB or twitter.
FB is best for Traffic resource but twitter is best for customer finding.
In my personal opinion, FB is the one.

Facebook started to limit harshly any links that point to outside of Facebook

Facebook just wants to keep people inside Facebook website at all times.

That is why if you want to have longterm clients without being charged constantly for just writing to them, the free way to go is Twitter

  • It is kinda subjective so for me it is either or both.
Twitter is too fast phased while Facebook is not that much, however some people prefer Twitter while some prefer Facebook. That would also depend on the purpose of using it.

I disagree. Twitter brings more quality visitors from rich countries as US, Canada, UK.

While the Facebook crowd is more of countries with very low purchasing power as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh
  • Facebook is better. Facebook can help in sharing blogs, articles, creating brand awareness and recognition. Facebook helps in increasing traffic in less time and cost.

Yes absolutely Facebook as I said is king in India.

Twitter is for those in US, UK, Canada, western Europe, etc
  • It depends on your business. Is it B2 B or B2C. if its B2B then twitter and if its B2C then facebook,

if you want to communicate with celebrities or with influencers and their followers for free, definitely twitter is more democratic and opened
  • As I would see it Facebook is vastly improved then Twitter.
The reason is that Facebook is famous among each age group, so you get immense crowd for your item or site.

  • My vote is for twitter due to engagement factor because engagement could easily be the deciding factor between marketing on Facebook or Twitter.
Twitter is undoubtedly the more engaged of the two platforms. it encouurages and fosters that ono to one relationship; when you follow someone on twitter
you are subscribing to every little detail of their life but facebook does not have this feature of building interpersonal relation with each of your fans.

  • Depend on your target and the way you promote..if you have long content to promote, facebook is the best way. For short content prefer twitter.

  • Nice question, all of us know that both social media, Facebook and Twitter, has many things to do. You can watch, you can post and you can communicate but which is the better? Both of them are public in a sense, but for me, I prefer Twitter since the posts are more direct and it is easier to navigate than Facebook.
  • Twitter is simpler that Facebook. Which makes it fast and more responsive. Maybe it has limiting characters in what you're posting and the content of it but Twitter gets to the point faster and what is captioned in your post makes it more aggressive than Facebook. It is the key to its mobile and indeed the best thing about this social media. It is lively, responsive and faster than the other.
  • Both the Facebook and twitter are considered one of the famous social media platform. If you ask me i would say to use both to get more clients. But if i have to choose one then i would say that Facebook is better than twitter because of following reasons:

Size: Facebook has 400 millions and Twitters 75 millions users. It is best to target the platforms that have maximum user traffic.

Engagement and Interactivity: When you are targeting audience then you need to select the platforms where the audience spend most of their time and according to the Facebook survey, users spend more time engaging Facebook than on Twitter.

In Facebook, the users can store and share much more information about the brands and products as compared to the twitter.

  • Twitter has searchable conversations although it is the same as on Facebook. On Twitter, you share keywords in every update that you have and on Facebook you update your status. It is more updated than Twitter. You can know what is trending easily and I think it is good enough in any work that you have. It is simple but It is better.
  • In my experience Facebook is better than twitter
  • I think it depends on how much time and energy you put into any of of the two.

The more you focus on either Facebook or Twitter, the better you will become, and the better it will do for you.

I have concentrated a lot on Twitter lately and get about 2500 new followers per day. I get lots of business from Twitter. It has done very well for me.. And yes, Twitter is still alive and well if you know how to use it.

I also have very good results with Facebook. I think it comes down to personal preference.
  • Facebook, in my opinion is much better as a focus for developing leads and conversions. While twitter does work, many things have changed over the years since "Twitter Salvation Marketing". Ultimately it is how the platform is used and mastered.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • twitter is better social network because its very easy to use.

  • Facebook is the best in social networking sites.
  • Now, according to new numbers from the traffic analytics service Parse.ly, Facebook is no longer just vying with Google but has overtaken it by a significant amount.
There's a lot of effort among media companies being placed on specific social channels like Twitter, but our data shows that Twitter is basically a distant traffic source. That's unfortunate because Facebook is a lot less transparent around things like how the algorithm functions. There's a lot more useful data from Twitter about their content, but FB is more like a black box in terms of how it operates. And yet it's this huge and growing traffic source.

  • Personally .... I like FaceBook but from the marketing point of view, I prefer Twitter. It is easy and quick to share things on Twitter. Also the user engagement is a bit better than FB.

Professionals, celebrities etc uses Twitter mainly.
