I'd say use Facebook more, try different tactics.

The only videos I watch on YouTube are ones I'm directly looking for (Search Results, Subscriptions...), related/recommended videos shown in the YouTube sidebar or ones shared on Facebook.

I think Facebook is your main bet here.

Once it gets rooted on Facebook, as long as it's something people would share, it should get a decent amount of views through people sharing it.

It depends on the content of your video. If it's something worthwhile post it on reddit (or sub) to get the conversation going.

If it's niche based find some forums or facebook groups and drive traffic that way. If it's just a text based power point the above methods won't be very effective. Don't forget all of the other social media outlets as well.

Moments like this is where it pays to lay your ground work before putting something out. Or if you want to hurry to put your content out then make sure you're building your traffic/reputation/etc. at the same time and you can use the content to do that...as long as it's quality.

In all honestly. I do not think doing the search optimization is the most important thing. The most important thing when it comes to generating organic youtube traffic is to create videos that are so good that people will want to watch it and return. Create high quality video that is well edited.

I made a product review video that generates me nearly $1000 a month because I did my best on the video. It now has 100k views all ORGANIC. The best thing is the views are CONSISTENT.

Thats my advice. Create great content, the views will follow.

I have several video on youtube and am ranking really well with them!

There are several things to do:
1. Make sure the name of the file (before you upload it to youtube) contains your keyword
2. Make sure you puts related tags inside the About section as well as in the tags section. To get related keywords, use google adwords keyword tool and make sure it is set to "related keywords"
3. Make sure you create a "favorites" channel and take the top 5 videos ranking for that keyword and put them in that channel (as well as your video, of course).
4. If you are speaking on the video, type it into a notepad, save it with the name of your keyword and upload it as caption.
5. Make sure you title contains your keyword as well as having a link to your capture page/website in the first line of your about section. Make sure you have some info about your video. Put your keyword in the first line and maybe once or twice again throughout the info.
6. submit your url to get "pinged" and bookmarks.
7. You need to get backlinks. I have a few easy methods I use to get some high quality backlinks....that will guarantee your videos will rank.

There are some great tips here. Make sure to optimize the video & URL (name of file, Title, Description & Tags) with your keyword and send various types of backlinks. I would also write a press release via webwire that links back to your video. Finally I would also do a short run of Youtube Ads. The CPC is still pretty low.

I would say start finding more traffic by making proper searches for topics as well as keywords. Then bring into line your videos with appropriate title tags before that traffic.
You can also start embedding your video on different blogs that are free, that will improve ranking massively and other resources of backlinks, which Google ranks immensely.
You can go for classified ad sites, I use usfreeads.com. Now it costs $9.99/month to publish ads on this web page but you will find worth investing in it.

There is a really cool software named 'Url Shotgun' which allows you to rank any youtube video on the 1 page of google within days! I personally ranked a few of my videos on page 1 and 2 of google with it. It helps if the keywords are not in a super competitive market but you can do it virtually with any video.

You also need to make sure your headline, description and tags are all relevant to your niche keywords. You can go to Keyword Planner and key in your main niche keyword.
