Facebook Marketing to Your Site, or Facebook Page

Hey guys, I'm going to add a few Facebook buttons on my website for the first time.

I have seen that sometimes when someone 'likes' the website, they are actually liking your site, and I believe that is what shows up to their friends???

I have also seen sometimes that it is set up where people 'like' your Facebook page (which I don't even have yet.

Which is better? If anyone knows of a great, little course/ebook on Facebook marketing in this manner, I'd love to take a look.

Thanks!

It's up to you as to what they like. You can add a like button to your website which let's people like any url of your choosing. So you can use your website url as the url they like or you can instead put the url of your Facebook fanpage so if someone clicks the like button they are liking your fanpage instead.

Here is where you get the code for the like button:
    https://developers.facebook.com/docs.../plugins/like/

Personally I would get them to like your fanpage since this way you can follow up with those fans over and over again. If they like your website url all you get out of that is the possibility that some of their friends see that in their newsfeed. But if they like your fanpage their friends will still see that notification and you now have them as a fan you can post to over and over again.

If people like your facebook page, you actually get a subscriber (facebook version).

If people like your page, your page will only show up on someone's newsfeed once.

You can drive them back to your site if they already like your fanpage by posting on your fanpage.

I prefer it for people to like the fan page because they can directly see your post. You can provide a link to your website in your fan page so it's like hitting two birds with one stone.

Well, sounds unanimous, and the "fan" issue seems like a very valid one as far as why you should have people like your FB page. Thanks guys!

Sometimes it's a great idea to have your blog comment using Facebook comment. So, all of your blog comments will be on Facebook and integrated with your blog. You can simply install a plugin if you use Wordpress.

Its best to get likes to a Facebook page. If you use wordpress you can get a plugin like Hybrid Connect or FBOutbreak to grab their email address as well when they like your page.

I would build an FB fan page first, buy some FB ads to acquire some likes. When fans like your page, their friends can see what they are up and may also visit and like your page. It becomes sort of like a viral marketing thingy.

Once you got the fans, then try to siphon them to your real website. See my signature for an example. Cheers
