Frequency of posting on FB page ???

I am new here and frankly speaking its the best forum and it is very informative.

I have a fb page which has more than 10k likes. I am confused about its frequency. The niche is about tips and tricks. One of my colleagues told me that if i reduce the frequency of posts then my page will become inactive, so i have to keep posting at least every hour.

Is it a myth or is it true about FaceBook??? Is posting frequently really matters to Talking of Fb page ?? What should be the ideal frequency of posting on fb page?? If i post 2-3 times a day, will it affect the talking of fb page??

Posting every hour seems quite excessive to me. Most people I know (and I have worked with scores of successful Facebook marketers) post between 2 and 4 times a day. I myself post 2x a day normally, more if I feel like it, less if Im lazy.

  • Cycoshas,

The frequency will depend on what you are marketing and whether your audience will be receptive to hearing from your brand that much. I would cut back to a few times a day and you could probably even get away with one time per day.

Facebook has its own idea on this,

  • Try to post 6am then the other is 11am and the last is 5pm because that's them of other people to be vacant after their work and they are using the internet as their past time that's only my personal observation.

I'd also say that 3-4 posts are enough. You also might overwhelm people by posting too much. When I log into my Facebook I don't want to see 20 messages by one person, right? So posting every hour is not just stress for you but also too much for your audience.

You have to be careful on posting because most Fb users tend to get easily annoyed if they only see one person on their news feed. You might lose some of those Likes if you post every hour.
For me, I think the exact and right amount of posting is 3-5 times a day.

You should make more content creator in your page to post, discuss with friends and assign them any work to update page... Singal person can't post every time

Personally I dislike FB pages which post to often. That is the reason that I do not update my FB page everyday. Maybe I should more often but on the other hand I do not want to border people and find that I lose some likes. I try to engage people and this is more important then just make posts.

I agree, I think 2-4 should be enough. If you post too much, it will become spam and people will unlike your page. Post just enough to be seen throughout the day.

3 times a day seems to work fine to keep your facebook page interactive. every hour is a bit too much!

If you make one post per day and the post is worth one that people likes to share, like and comment, then keep on engaging people on that post for whole day, if they ask any question keep on answering..its better that you should increase that engagement on your page rather posting to many..

Every hour definitely sounds like way too much, unless you have a very remarkable/unique audience. Most people I think want to see one or two things a day, so I think you can afford to post abut 3-4 times a day, maybe up to 6-8 tops. More than that and you typically start to look spammy...

your mileage may vary, though. It really depends on your audience and the quality of your content, and maybe other things like environmental context (live updates on a breaking event might be such an exception)

Frequency of posting depends mostly on demographics and niche. Some topics work fine with posts every hour, for example - funny pics, beautiful photos, quotations etc. Those are topics that attract people from all over the world, Facebook will not show every post on each fan's wall, but those contents are highly shareable and there will always be way more people who will like to see them than those who won't. If people are coming from specific time zones and niche is limited in possible quality content, there is no point in more than 4-6 posts per day and it's better to stick with quality content than to spam people with less quality posts each hour.

I usually make a post at most five times a day, and in my opinion I think that is too much. I only do that to let people know I am still around Lol. I can not understand how people can have an addiction to FB.

  • It really depends on what your page is.. I know plenty of pages that are self help related that post every hour, I certainly have done that it can help with building your page but not the same post repeatedly.

Did you know you can schedule your posts.. This has made my life so much easier so you dont have to sit there and manually post each one. You can also do it for photos.. Once you have written your post there is a symbol on the bottom left just under the box you are posting in which is the schedule button. click on that and just follow the tabs across.. that way you can do all of your posts Sunday night for the rest of the week if you wanted to.. it saves time and works a charm. Tony.

Hy 2 posts/day should be enought. You just have to be careful when your fans are active on facebook, and to post everyday I would never post more than 3 posts/day because it would become ennoiying for your fans and they will unlike you.

Unlikes are normal and there is no way to avoid them, no matter of the number of daily posts. As long as they are not rising, everything's fine.

I have several pages with posts/pictures published every hour. Those are pages around some general topics such as nice photos. Facebook is not showing every post on everyone's wall, so those pages aren't actually spamming anyone. Page likes increase with every post, shares are always around the same numbers, traffic on the pages that are promoted through those posts is constant, and everything works great.

On the other side, some other pages can't handle more than 4 posts per day. Those are pages with more specific and smaller niches, where people are looking for specific information and don't want to be spammed.

There is no universal recipe - what works for one page doesn't have to work for another, and it's all about knowing the audience.
