Over 20,000 likes on facebook page but only 1,000 talking and 2,000 reach?

How is it that a facebook page can have 20k likes but only 1-2k are talking about it and 1-2k (or on lucky days, 3k) are reached? How do I make it so that all 20,000 people who liked my page are seeing and/or talking about my content?

I think that it is good if 10 % is active on your facebook fanpage. Most people just like or subscribe, to do nothing after it.

I agree - 10% is pretty good for the number of fans you have. I don't know what are you publishing on your page, but you can try a bit more aggressive approach to raise those numbers if that really bothers you - calls to action, more shareable posts, share for share.. Get people involved and make them comment, like and share your content.

Hmm good point. Makes sense for the people "talking about it" part. I see a lot of posts on pages I "like" but never engage, every now and then I share. But what about the reach part? Why are only a small percentage of people seeing my content out of the 20k? is the other 90% hiding or ignoring my page? How do I get them to see my content?

This is not about you or your fans - Facebook doesn't show every post on everyone's wall. I want to believe that the algorithm is based on users likes and interests, but more likely it is only to force you to pay for the ad. Reach is about how many people see your posts, no matter if they are seeing it on your page or on their friends' walls, so it's basically all about sharing.

1-2 k is pretty good. At least they are talking about it. Try to change your content, more special, more attractive.

So facebook prevents most users who have "liked" your page from seeing your content? That shocks me. What am I supposed to do with the other 90% of my users who aren't seeing my content...?

No, it's not preventing users from seeing your content. Look at it from the other side, as an end user - You have your Facebook account. When you look at your wall you don't see every post from every person/group/page. You see only those that are interesting to you, or at least Facebook thinks they are - posts from the people/pages where you've liked, shared or commented something. The same is with your page - people who are liking, commenting and sharing your posts (or have only few friends so their wall is empty) have more of your content on their walls than those who are not engaged.

      Again, 10% is good.

Again, if you'd like to increase those numbers, you'll have to communicate with your fans not only via posts but via comments, likes, share4shares, calls to action etc.

Well you can 'boost the post' and pay every time you want to be sure they all (or most) see something. Or you can do what I recommend to people, funnel them into a offer, or sweepstakes or something that collects there email address and email them updates for free.

It's not really that complicated. Just post something highly shareable from time to time and you'll be fine. For example, just yesterday I've posted one of those childish sharing posts and it brought over 3500 shares (while average post shares are 300-500) in one hour and both, total reach and people talking about the page jumped up to the sky.

1000-2000 talking about on a 20,000 page is usually pretty good.

Question: How did you get the 20,000 likes?

I used facebook ads to get 20k likes in under one month and it's 24k now. My only problem is creating a schedule of when to make posts....I get lazy and post 1-2 times per day :/

The only way to get your engagement up is to post good quality content that is relevent to your niche

Pictures work well for this as they are more likely to be shared.
Sharing increases your edge rank and prompts Facebook to show your pictures to more of your Fans in their timeline.

Collect lots of strong images in your niche and schedule your posts based on the data Facebook provides you in the stats

Find out when most of your audience is on Facebook
    Also check the demographics

Post images based on their gender and schedule them to post when most are online

Engagement is key, Don't let it slide, its very hard to get it back if you loose it.

If your a lazy marketer like me, spend 1 hour at the beginning of the week scheduling 3 posts a day for the rest of the week.
Then if you forget to post its not a problem

    I have a page with 21,740 Likes

    2,600 Talking about it

But my weekly reach is 64,905

I never let a day go by when I don't post at least once on this page and its 100% affiliate links
