Tracking Twitter and Facebook traffic

Hi guys
I've been asked by the company I work for to set up Twitter and Facebook accounts for them and report back on traffic etc. The trouble is, I've never done this before for a company. Can you please let me know how I track Twitter and Facebook traffic and any other measurable stats?
Thanks for your help!!

If you're tracking traffic from Twitter & Facebook to a website then you really need Google Analytics code on the website. You'll then be able to see exactly where your traffic is coming from and what pages they're landing on.

If you're going to be using links to blog posts etc in tweets and FB posts then you can track link clicks. This helps you decide if what you're posting is right for your target market. If your links aren't getting any clicks you need to rethink. To track link clicks you can use bit.ly or if you're using Hootsuite to schedule they have an analytics tool within the dashboard.

If you want to track clicks, opt-ins and conversions then you need to use something like Linktrackr to see where your best conversions are coming from.

    Hope that helps a little.

    Warm regards
    Karen

Shorten url like bitly, can help you for traking clicks, you need to use first your url shortener bitly, before sharing in fb or twitter.
