  I created a Google+ page once from my account with the keyword and domain name I wanted ranking for and the Google + page came up on the first page of google in just a few days so I would have a tendency to say yes it does help with SEO. Google + is great for SEO because it's a layer to google, not just another social media platform. Everything you post is indexed and searchable including your profile, and content within communities.

Sharing keyword relevant content is a great way to drive traffic to your site and boost your seo. And make sure you set up your google authorship (I've got a free video on this if anyone needs help setting this up).

  Google+ is the shizzle when it comes to SEO. I'm surprised I don't see a lot more people talking about it. It's responsible for a extra 800+ searches to my website alone. Listen, the best way to utilize is to complete your "about me" section, add all your websites and social networks to it, then you can add a link back from your website to your google+ profile. It does help the more links you send back to your google+ profile. But, the best way I've found is to use keywords in your status itself, don't overdue - just make it look natural, but it does pick up in the regular search, big time

Google+ is the best if you can gather traction. Use G+ authorship. It's important to not that G+ Links are rel=follow links unlike almost all of the other SM platforms. Links in the txt of your posted comments are no follow but the ones in the link generated box below are followed so be sure to point readers to click on those links.

tumblr is another one that offers rel=follow links too so this should be taken into consideration.

If you're using Google+ primarily for SEO then you are using it wrong.

Here is how I would sum it up:

Google+ shares do drive discovery of content.
Google+ shares appear to drive indexing of content, but there is some possibility of error if the pages received links we are not aware of.
There is no material evidence of Google+ shares driving ranking.

You can add up to 5K people to your circles on G+ and the brilliant thing is that they will see your posts even if they didn't add you back.

Google communities is great place for free traffic where I got some good results.

The google plus community could be helpful for getting targeted visitors, but nothing more than that because they're are now Nofollow. So, expecting something from backlinks view isn't worth. Though it is powered by Google, you never know anything can possible.

Well, yes it is. With G+ around it's easier to build google authorship which is pretty important when you want to rank well in your SERP. You can do this by connecting all your blogs to your account and even your other social media profiles. Facebook may work well in generating leads through their ads but when it comes page rank, G+ is king. It may sound bias but that's how I see it.

I much prefer Google+ for marketing purposes rather than SEO purposes. Google+ isn't the best for promoting your website or service, certainly not as good as Facebook or Twitter. It can be useful though, and you can reach out to lots of people in a certain area because of the circles system. Although its not the best marketing platform, I still think it's important for marketers to have social media accounts on as many sites as possible.
