How to add a linked image to a Facebook post?

Hi!

I wonder if anyone knows how to add a linked image to a Facebook post that I create.

I know how to add an image via the "Add photo / Video" function, but I don't know how to make it hyperlinked.

I don't want someone to click the image and just be taken to the image file itself.

I know that what I'm asking is possible, because I see it more and more often. But I have no idea how this is done.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

From what you're saying, all I can come up with is when you right click an image, you'll see "copy image URL". Get that URL and paste it in Facebook. I do this with movies in the comments sections sometimes.

    Hi, Dennis...

I do *not* want the image to point to itself. I want it to point to another URL. And I don't just want to include the url as a simple text either. :-)

    Thanks!

Facebook doesn't allow html in posts so you cant use any code.

All you can do is share the post that contains the image, or post an image with a goo.gl or bitly link thrown in under it

It can be done with news feed ads but I'm not sure about normal post updates. Do you think it could have been ads you've seen this on?

Facebook is testing larger image sizes for links. So, now some links show like this:

That is not an image being shared. It's a link being shared that has a large image in the meta OG Facebook tags.

You can find more information about this change at:
Facebook Rolls Out Larger Images For Link Share Posts

I've been testing this myself with some really really nice results. People are much more likely to click the image than they were before

chances are what you see are sponsored post ie, newsfeed ads.

Go to "create an ad" at "ads manager" on the top right hand corner, and put in the external link that you want your target to go.

Then go on the doing the rest of the ads, headline, copy, audience age interest etc.

    Hope it helps.
