here is a suggestion.....I would say place good content at least once a day. Find an interesting and trending topic that is trending on the Internet, place some content on a daily activity of yourself (Pic), and then place a motivational quote.
That way you can build a following without a bribe, once you have trust established then you can start offering free giveaways.....
If you have multiple accounts you can use a social marketing system like Hootsuite...

I would say the most important is to post relevant content. Much better to make one relevant post per week than 5 non-relevant posts per day.

If you manage to post good and relevant content once a day, that is obviously great, but for many people that is simply too time consuming (read; They won't prioritize this high enough).

For my own part, I'm more creative some days than others. Sometimes it comes fairly easy to produce 10 relevant posts, while other days I just don't seem to be able to wrap my mind around it. What I do is that I save everything I write on the good days, and then I portion this out on the bad days. This way I manage to keep a fairly steady update rate on my social media channels, instead of making 10 updates one day and then go 2 weeks without any updates.

There isn't really "the right rule" for it. Because the viwers/ audience attention can vary
        because of the
        the social media
        or the topic .
If you are very active person and you are able to find valuable or enganging stuff every day, then post daily or you do it weekly.
        It really depends on you.
I agree with sociafly that the most importeat fact is, to post "relevant content".
You should also comment on others postings to be active. That Way they will like you, too.

As often as you can, but be sure that the posts are top quality and very relevant, otherwise nobody will interact with them. And also try to learn how your audience consumes your information so that you can know exactly how to target them including how many times you should post.

I suggest not trying to quantify your social media posts, but to focus more on the quality and relevancy of them.

You have already obtained the likes/followers/etc., which means those people have showed some degree of interest in your page or niche. Now you have to ensure that they get something out of their commitment to your page.

I would definitely post once a week at the bare minimum. Making one post a week that creates extensive engagement, is much more effective then 20 posts in that week that no one cares about. Test some different things out and see what works best!

    Good luck!

Once per day seems to work best for me but others have success with more less often. Usually just testing out different strategies yourself will give you the best outcome!

Once or twice a day will work if you have interesting stuff. Don't post the same thing across all your social media accounts. People will get tired of you real quick and tune you out once they realize you are multiple-posting.

95% of IM'ers have great relationships with clients who also advertise offline and with other people. Stop missing out on that cash and leverage into it. PM me if you are an established marketer and want to find out how.

After FB started limiting who sees posts, you really can post a lot more now than you were once able. When most your fans saw the posts it was recommended to be about 4-7 per week. Now it is much higher.

Twitter, go nuts, but space it out over the course of the day.

G+ depends on who you have in your circles.

I agree with this. I know most of you are in business type stuff but in a comedy page I post every hour but it's also easier to find relative content.

We do 3 posts a day, and try to send them at a time where they can be seen in North America and Europe at the same time.

I say as much as you can, as long as it's relevant like people said. I post things every couple of hours throughout the day personally. And engage engage engage.. and that doesn't just mean on your page.. go to other people's pages that engage with you and start liking and commenting on their page. Build relationships.. that's the point of social media. (you can come over to my page http://www.facebook.com/hollyMmitson) I'd love to connect with you and help boost your page.

3 or 4 a week is just fine, if you really want to keep quality then don't focus on the quantity.

That’s an easy question you have there. You have to at least post once or twice a day. But, you always have to make sure that the posts are relevant and are connected to the kind of niche that you’re in. it will help you gain more followers and traffic to your official website.

I would say once a day or once every other day is good. Everyone here has said it and Ill say it again, PLEASE make sure its relevant information. A lot of businesses make the mistake to think that a social media page is a way to bombard people with advertisements just because they "liked" your page or they "follow" you. Social media is supposed to be about sharing thoughts, ideas, and topics.

That is not to say you cannot promote yourself at all. Stick to the 80/20 rule. (80% relevant topics, trends, etc. The other 20% can be about your company, milestones, promos, awards, sales, deals, etc.)

I have noticed that posting a lot on tumblr and pinterest brings in more followers, because i guess on those sites, people are there for the content, but if you post to much on twitter and facebook, people find it annoying, and unfollow you, i post a couple of updates a day, 2-3, and that works fine for me. with many hours between each post
