I can't comment on Facebook

Hello,

I don't have a personal profile, but a business Page only. As far as I understand, this should enable me to comment other FB pages by going to Edit page -> Use Facebook as [Page Name]. But I don't have this option. My menu looks like this:

As far as I know, I wasn't banned or anything.

What could be wrong? Can anyone please help?

Thanks.

You have a personal profile if you were able to create a business page... use that for commenting.

I don't have one, really. It's not required to have a personal profile for creating a page.

I want to use my page instead of my personal profile for "promotion" purposes. I don't want to spam, but just "hang out" with other people.

zendot, you need a personal page in order to comment. Upgrade your page into personal page. Happened to me also.

    Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. So I should upgrade (change) my business page to personal or create a personal profile? I need both, since I can't showcase my products on a Personal page (it's against FB TOS).

I will try to figure it out now, will report back, how it goes. Thanks again to both for your replies.

Hello. When I create a personal page, will I be then able to switch to my Business Page and comment with that profile? That's what I'm trying to achieve. I know that this is possible, because it's on Facebook's FAQ. It should be a very easy profile switch, but I'm lacking the option.

I get the feeling that it doesn't really matter because what you're about to try will get your account killed anyway...

I don't think so. I never got any message from Facebook and this didn't work for me from the start. But, as I said, I don't have a personal Facebook account and I don't want to have one. But if this is what it takes to post comments as "Page", then I'll create one. I don't plan to spam, I just want to interact and raise awareness of my app making business.

There is nothing wrong with your account. You simply can't use a Facebook PAGE the same way you use a PROFILE. Pages aren't meant for you to be signed into and interact with other users, apps, etc. A Page can't be "friends" with someone. A page can't comment on stuff on someone's profile. They were never designed for that.

If you want to be able to interact with people, but still have more of a "fan page" feel, you should make a regular profile, disallow friend requests, and allow subscribers. But that will always be a profile, not a page.

As for my comment about getting your account killed, come on, I know what you're really wanting to do And that's precisely why Facebook won't let you do it. Go the profile w/subscribers route instead of a page, that will get you closer to your goal.

@ronrule: You've replied, while I typed, sorry. Again, here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/help/168135343245607

Or is this for replying to comments on my own Page only?

It's for replying to comments on your page, other pages you've liked, and publicly shared posts - a person who Likes your page isn't the equivalent of a "friend" on a regular profile, you still can't see their stuff when acting as a page. They just don't work the same way as profiles.

That's a cool piece of info, thanks! Commenting on other Pages will also work good. I've just found this article which explains the Page usage: HOW TO: Separate Personal and Business with Facebook Pages

Once you are logged into your page you now take on your alter ego. Step out of your Clark Kent suit and post, like pages, comment, and see a custom news feed - just like a Facebook superuser. And of course you can use the page to syndicate your content automatically as before using RSS from a Web site or blog.
However, I've just liked the Android Page, and I can't comment anything. I've also posted a post there and it looks like this:

I have the same problem. I cannot comment on another page from my website's FB page. I also do not see the posts from the pages I liked on my timeline.

IMHO this is a stupid rule from FB. Why should I be not allowed to like and comment other posts from the pages I liked?!
