Facebook "Like" vs. "follow"

SOCIAL NETWORKS

I am a little confused about the differences between these two buttons.

I know that when a person clicks "like" it shares the content on their wall-- does it also make them a follower of the respective group page?

Currently I use "like" buttons to get people to share content, and "follow" buttons to get people to subscribe to my group page--

Does that sound about right, or am I missing something here?

No it does not make them a follower of the page. They simply show in the "likes" of that post.

Sounds like you have a fb group page rather than a usual business page. Dont know much about groups other than they are more intended for offline organizations that want to stay connected on fb.

Like button option is for pages while the "Follow" button is for the people who created the profiles. both are doing the same work. If you Like a page you can get its posts on your timeline and same as the follow button you can get public posts of the person when you start following him.

Like button is for Facebook business page, so that peoples can like your page. Whereas Follow button is for profile page, so that peoples can follow you.
