LinkedIn : as an Owner, is it better to make the title as CEO or Owner or Software Engineer?

Hi all,

I planning to intensively search for contractor/freelance jobs in the next days on linkedin. Since I try to act as business owner rather than a developer I would like to know what title will me more efficient in order to attract more prospect [I have 5 five years development experiences as an employee and 3 years experiences as owner of a software company (not very success yet certainly to lack of marketing strategies, etc), and a master in computer sciences] in the following :

- CEO at xxxxxxxxx
- Software Engineer at xxxxxxxxx
- Owner at xxxxxxxxx
- Founder at xxxxxxxxx

Thanks in advance for your help,

Booster

CEO if your company is a legal entity (e.g. inc, llc, etc...).

    Otherwise I suggest owner.

Yes, my company is a legal entity since it is a Limited Company (based in UK).

I would definitely opt for CEO then (my two cents).

Just a perspective from a corporate world:

CEO usually refers that there is C-level positions: CFO, CMO, etc and some corporate structure behind it. For a small company this is "over-marketing".

For a smaller company CEO equivalent is MD (managing director) or managing partner.

For a really small company I'd use Owner. Founder is usually a person who isn't anymore in operative work in the company.

If you are a one-man company and you are selling your skills, I'd use Software Developer / Senior Software Developer

    Those were my 5 cents

CEO is pretty watered down nowadays, you see people with pajamas smoking a blunt who post their job titles as CEO of what ever fake company

      Software engineer sounds nice

If you're your only employee, Owner is better. Corporate entity or not, a one-man shop running around calling himself a CEO is a bit tacky.

It seems like Owner will be the best title.

CEO describes more qualities in you and have a good impression, so I would go for it.

If you are using it in hopes of attracting leads, CEO or owner really does nothing.

Who cares? You will however attract more people to connect with you in hopes
      of selling YOU their stuff.

If you click on 'the people you may know' link on your Linkedin homepage you
can see that you have very little space to tell them what you are. As I do it
right now I see many of the same sounding titles... then I see this one-

"Certified rooftop genius at Xxxxx Exteriors' (name altered)

Be interesting while being descriptive. I giggle at most who call themselves 'CEO'
