Yes, according to some studies there is some correlation between Google +1s and site rankings.

However, as Matt Cutts of Google responded on Hacker News +1s aren't used directly in Google's algorithm. This is what he said:

"If you make compelling content, people will link to it, like it, share it on Facebook, +1 it, etc. But that doesn't mean that Google is using those signals in our ranking.

Rather than chasing +1s of content, your time is much better spent making great content."

So it makes sense to improve your popularity on Google+ (as well as other social networks) , but that won't be a decisive factor in determining your site rankings.

Yes Google plus is a social platform from Google. where it allow the users to communicate, share & utilize the platform to increase their audience coverage, enhance their popularity.
As the search engine bots has no limitation in craving out the detail either from the websites or from the social networking sites.
So, yes indeed the Google plus has a value in the SERPs .

Great resource, thanks for sharing. I have had a few big spikes in traffic when my Google + posts have a lot of activity. I think communities are a very underrated source of marketing potential.

Be sure to directly connect your Google+ page to your website. You can add a simple piece of code to your page that no one will see on your website or you can add a Google+ badge

yeap!! of course it helps a lot to boost the search engine result pages rankings.. keep in mind this - all of those resources owned by Google will treat with more privileges over other sites..i.e. - if you are to build a blogger site...you will be given a competitive edge to reach past your competitor far easier!! thx and good luck mate!!

Again various other factors also play crucial role....your competition for keywords is major factor...for high competition keywords only one or two activities alone won't deliver result....

Yes, G+ does help search ranking. And also, I've grown my circles within Google+ and have found much more interaction on my blog because of this. Because when you're in other people's circles, anything you have posted in Google+ will show up on the first page of Google when they search.

Google+ is still a social network, meant to connect people. So the more social you are on that site, adding people to your circles and getting added to circles, the more credibility you will have on the site. Of course, you will want to take advantage of the backlinking opportunities from Google+ as they offer a tremendous SEO benefit.

100% correct!! Since Google+ is a product of Google so it will give priority to sites and blogs shared over Google+. But, if you have premium content then even you don't have to worry about it.

Yes! There is a connection here, and it seems likely to increase over the next year. What you do to increase the activity and +1's is directly dependent on who your audience is. Figure out the demographics for you business and what they are interested in and focus content in that direction. Play around with it and figure out what works. Good luck!
