Google does look at social interaction on the page so having a lot of likes, tweets etc might well improve your rankings.

You need to understand that it is only 1 factor of many that google looks at though, so it will help but certainly isn't enough to give you rankings on its own.

Engagement is also important. you can have 100,000 people but if noone is engaging with you OR if it's not updated regularly.. its a big turn off

Facebook, like any other social media is where people *share* your site with their friends/followers, bringing in traffic... and more people visiting your site increases the possibility that someone likes your content enough to write about you in their blog or site and/or links back to your site.

So yeah, Facebook like buttons, share buttons, Twitter buttons and all that most definitely have influence on SE rankings, in a positive way!

No it does not help you in SEO, this is a attraction for your visitor, he/she thinks that this website is very popular and it has 1000+ likes

You know, Facebook and other social networks were originally designed for more online marketing purposes rather than SEO.

As numerous studies show, there's no direct correlation between the number of Facebook 'Likes' a website gets and that site rankings.

However, by increasing the number of likes, you will be able to make your site more popular, raise awareness of your brand and get more referral traffic.

  • Facebook likes do have an effects but for truly visible results, look at engagement and shares. The more times your content is shared, the more likely it can affect your rankings

It helps with websites but not with Fanpages. Fanpages rank based on Backlinks.. this is how I got my fanpage ranking for my name. I've been in competition with a deceased professional soccer player for the longest
