Where does the Facebook traffic come from?

Hi everyone,

I am working for a client who's product is being promoted by an affiliate on Facebook.

My client wants to know who is this affiliate. But I cannot respond to that question due to the fact that I have no idea how this affiliate is promoting the page.

Organic or paid facebook traffic? I don't know.

Google Analytics and Statcounter don't specify where the referals come from, the data only says their are coming from Facebook, that is all.

How do I find out exactly what page on Facebook the people is clicking to visit the product's page? And if were ppc ads, How do I find out on what pages are these ads being displayed?

Any help would be appreciated

If the traffic comes from Facebook then it's Facebook.

FB allow advertisers to use their website, create fan page or even use affiliate links directly like I sometimes do with my amazon products.

Also, you cant really track a site's traffic if you don't have access to the installed analytic dashboard.

Try using this Google query to identify who is mentioning you on Facebook.
in Google type the following with inverted comma:

"your product name" OR "your company name" site:facebook.com

This will return you pages on Facebook that have your product and company name mentioned. You can then locate the user who have been promoting your product!

    Hope this helps!

I also don't understand how you can have an affiliate without knowing who it is. Your client should have contact info for their affiliates. If you have some problem with how they are promoting, contact them. But it almost sounds like your client wants to rip off their campaign.

Share your campaign into 2 parts. When you run social media marketing, stop the ppc ads
One more thing, if Google data analysis said that referrals come from FB then they all come from FB. Why did you ask ?

He wants to know where on FB they came from. I suspect the client's idea is to recreate the affiliate's traffic source and cut the affiliate out of his share.

I think that is truth. So is there any way it can be done?

        Thanks all for helping me

If the affiliate was careless, you can google his tracking link and see if it shows up anywhere. Otherwise, I don't think so. Chances are the affiliate protected himself from getting his traffic ripped off.

It is the affiliate job to give full analytic's
If he does not wants to share that where he is promoting your product either ads or his own personal page then no worries as long as you are making profits you don't need to worry about this much,
If you start loosing profits move on ..
Most of affiliates would not like to reveal their traffic sources, that's why they are outsources
