5 Proven Ways to Increase your Facebook Engagement

Engagement is one of the most important factors in Facebook. If you have all the fans in the world but they do not engage with your content than your efforts will go down the drain.

Following are 5 ways that have proven to increase engagement.

1) Attract your fans to a specific point in your article.
Fans are subject to a multitude of content on Facebook and on other places over the web. Just posting a link to your article will not spark engagement. Pointing fans to a specific point in your post will increase clicks, comments, and shares.

2) Vary your content
Do not use the same type of content. This will bore your readers and they will tend to skip on your content. There are various types of content that you can use on Facebook. Use videos, photos, linked articles, and other types. Just watch your analytics and see what is engaging your fans more and give them more of that type.

3) Adjust your posts to drive click-throughs
When making a post increase your fans click-throughs by including incentives and call to actions. Do not assume that your fans know what to do next.

4) Inject emotions in your posts
With all the content that is available over the internet readers become accustomed to words and they might skim your content and head to another post in their news feed. Experiments have shown that including images, such as emoticons, will increase peoples' reactions.

5) Provide ever-green content
If your posts are about a trendy topic then you expect that the engagement will go down when the trend has passed by. Include evergreen posts as much as you can to keep the level of engagement high.

Why would you do this? Friends of fans is just hoping they like the same thing.

If you going to us FB Ads target other fanpages in the same niche, those are the fans you want to attract.

Whatever you do you should have a close eye on your insight data. Without paying attention to your insights you will be flying in the dark. As I mentioned in my original post just see what is engaging your readers more and provide them with more of this type of content.

Also do not forget the importance of apps. Many pages do not take full advantage of apps. You can use them for list building or driving traffic.

Link to your app from your status update, blog, or even Twitter to increase engagement and drive traffic to those apps.

You are right Trusodesign. Audience should be your number one concern. You should always provide content that is of value to them. This is the only way for engagement.

While all social networks have their own personality, audience, and best practices, they center around one key aspect -- shareable content. It is the content that you post that is going to get people engaged.

Essentially, they found that; you don't need to plan and secondly, try 'communicating' rather than 'selling'.

Very Nice tips Paul and thanks.

However, I would like to provide a different perspective on point number 5.

Assuming we are talking about Facebook Pages, I find that evergreen content serves to bring newer likes to your Facebook content. But trendy topics increase engagement. That is why it is advisable to post regularly on your Facebook page. I find that controversial posts perform even best.

  • Another tip: Post when your target market would most likely be on Facebook! If you post when most of your market is offline, your "amazing" post would just get lost.
