Both of the options are widely used by sites. But infact some of the sites get much traffic from Facebook like Mashable. You will have to update all the time your facebook page, as if you don't do that,
Number of people talking about your facebook page will decrease and your posts(links) will reach to few people even the fact that you might have thousands of fans. I have a facebook page with 15000 fans and i get less than 100 visits from each post.
Different people have different views, but i think that Google+ is the best option as if you are login and have liked a Google+ page. Its post will appear on first page of google search. And for bloggers i think Google is the most favorable choice as Google gives no value to Facebook posts in search.

Depends how you're looking at it.

Facebook might be the better option to reach out to actual humans.

Google+ would be a beter option for SEO, as it's owned by Google.

The reality is that using both services together is the best way to go, as long as you're using them both with quality. If you're new to a certain social platform you may create a profile, but don't heavily advertise it until you've got a better understanding of the platform.

I agree, but my point is SEO not just few clicks.

    imrankhang,

I can see many people making this "Facebook vs. Google" topic into fight.

Why not use both and leverage them?

To be honest with you, I don't like Facebook and prefer Google+ over it any day.

But that's just me. I still continue to use Facebook as one of my other channels of communication for my audience.

It all depends what works for you and if one of those sites are not performing to your liking, just kick it in the ass and move on to the other.

Facebook. Google+ vs Facebook is like a village in Affrica vs New York Well maybe the difference is not so big but you got my point.

Go with the site you feel most comfortable with. If Google+ is working for you as a blog platform to reach out to your potential customers, then stay with it. But don't shut out Facebook as it can offer you access to potential customers you might not reach on Google+

Facebook will helps to get good traffic to your site. Facebook is a blog platform to reach out to your potential customers, I don't like Google+.

I voted for fb because I in truth use it. whilst G+ first came out, like many of us I made an account. I these days have eight pals on g+, and get a few email from them each and every month or two. at the finish of the day, I don't use it because i will be able to in flip because no one else makes use of it. If g+ had an actual user base, i might be open to making use of it, but I doubt they'll ever happen.

      Nice approach, samaustin141
But i am comparing it from blogging point of view. When you are logged in gmail id, google will give different results and more specific to you. As they try to become more familiar with you. Just like Google ads(they are showing your interest from your history in browser). Now For example, if you followed IGN google+ page and you are logged in. If you search for any type of new game, IGN will be on the top.

Facebook if you prefer traffic more than SEO.
Google+ if you prefer SEO more than traffic.

For a whole new start, you can use facebook to gain traffic and spread your brand/products, and when you are already well-established, you can reduce your campaign in facebook and start thinking about authority and better SEO using google+.

SEO may give you search traffic, but remember that not all search traffic are buying and the fastest way to make a viral campaign is by using facebook since there are a lot of active users in it (more than google+, admit it !) and they can start sharing your campaign if they like it, and don't ever forget the benefits of facebook ads.

I am starting a new blog at the moment and if i have something to promote where i think i need instant , quick traffic i am using facebook, twitter and so on... This gives you fast results.

But i am using also google+ to publish my content to improve my seo. Google+ will help you to rank over a longer period, right? So both ways work for different purposes i think.

Effective marketing on Facebook depends on having followers who share your content. Take George Takei, he shared a silly photograph yesterday and got over 150k likes and over 32k shares. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...2828349&type=1

I really don't like G+ very much. May be the existence of Facebook has blured the other social network.
