Someone offered to but my FB page...

15 replies
Got a message from someone wanting to buy my FB page for $1000. People have made offers before but not this much so I am thinking bullsh*t. So I okay let's do it. She messages me her Paypal and says to send her a Paypal invoice and state the name of the page. Now I am thinking this is for real. However, I have heard people getting their pages stolen so I am a little weary.

So my question is that once she pays and its in my Paypal account, I am in the clear right? Anyway for her to be slick and get that money back?

      Send me a link to the page with how many USA fans you have.. I will give you a little idea of how much your page worth.

      Beware of paypal payment. As of Paypal policies if she/he open a dispute you will automatically win but if he decide to call his credit card company and says that he never received an "item" with a valid tracking number the credit card company will automatically refund their clients and Paypal has no rights to dispute that.

      I hope that this helped you out

                Either Escrow.com or ask the buyer to send the full payment first. If you are interested in selling let me know I might be interested in buying it.

          Not really. Nothing is going to protect you from a charge back. Since a charge back is between you and the credit card company. Here is what I would do.

          1) Send the invoice.
          2) Take the payment.
          3) Withdraw the money to your bank
          4) Then transfer the fan page over to them, only after the money is in your bank

          Still not perfect, but its the best you are going to be able to do.

          As a side option, if there in the same country as you, you could always ask them to overnight you a check. And transfer the page over to them once it clears. Keep in mind. This person came to you, the ball is in your court, if they really want it, and they are legit, they will follow the transfer procedure you outline.

            Do this! Don't hand over the page until you have withdraw the money in your bank!

    Is there a way I can tell if someone sends me Paypal money as a gift?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[8861498].message }}
  • Be aware of a common PayPal payment scam where you receive a seemingly "real" payment. However a month or so later you receive a charge back due to the amount being paid to you was done via a stolen credit card etc. This leaves you responsible and your PayPal account in the red until you pay back the $1000 or whatever the amount is.
