Getting started in Facebook

I've been working on gaining twitter followers for a year now and I've managed to get 25K follower all on my own (NO paid followers or bots) Now I'm thinking of heading over to facebook and creating a page there.

With all the recent changes to facebook is it still possible to gain a good following without paying for likes or advertisements?

Any suggestions on how get started?

Maybe you can if you were able to get that many twitter followers on your own, but even if you pay for likes it doesn't cost that much. You can run ads for just one dollar a day.

If you are planning on posting a little bit different content to your facebook page you could start out by asking your twitter followers to follow your facebook page. I did that but in the reverse it worked okay even though I did not diversify my content.

    Yeah, it's definitely doable.

However, I would recommend you to at least pay for your first 1000-2000 fans just to get the ball rolling, otherwise it would be hard for you. You can get 2000 targeted fens with less than $100 by using FB ads.

Once you get there, you can do share for share with other pages within your niche and gain more fans - it's an awesome method that really works.

Other than this - it's all about hard work, and daily maintaining of your page

    Good luck!

You can do it but there were changes recently on Face book about post reach.
Post reach was very helpful in gaining more and more fans but Face Book has cut down on it now as they want us to be doing paid advertising.

It is because Twitter is used by more serious people than facebook.

In the end, you will have to "pay" in some shape or form whether that's with your time, money, etc.

However, if you already have that many twitter followers, you can incentivize them to join your FB page and see how it goes.

You might consider starting a Facebook group for your product or site and covering general news from your niche that would interest others who join the group. This would give you a good place to actually talk with potential users of the product or service. Then you could drive traffic to a Facebook page and build likes there.

Sending traffic to a Facebook page is unnecessary if you're already talking to the people that would buy your products, just link them to the actual page on your site where a relevant product can be found.
