google+ custom url question

when i try to use custom url it said add few character. my url is unique it is not avaialble. My url is unique, then why i need to add few more character?

  • Go to your Google Plus account there is side bar showing many option like: home,profile etc there is also an option pages go there and make your page.Hope you get my point.

  • I have seen this option but have not tried to enable it. I was under the impression that it was a matter of a simple click. Has anyone who has enabled it seen improved results for your Google+ efforts.
