What social media marketing package can I sell to a local pet shop?

I have a local pet shop owner who wants me to help him with social media marketing. He has a Facebook page, but hasn't done anything with it to market his business. He has asked me to find out more infomation for him on what he can do.

He could use Facebook to build a list of existing customers, and market special offers to them and keep in touch with them. Should he use a '10% discount' off the first purchase in his shop to get people to join?

any more ideas?

    i'd do paid ads to get likes for his page in the area that his shop is based who are into dogs, cats etc (use graph search on FB). Then after he has got a lot of new fans, hit them with the 10% voucher as you suggested.

    Get a few cute of his animal pics to get paid ads created.

    you could also get an opt in page set up to collect emails and market to them via email in case the FB page got banned or something.

    It sounds like a pretty easy business to get likes for his fan page - just make sure its not too far for the public to travel - or if he does online sales then ads can be UK wide.

    Offer to help them grow their Facebook presence by running ads to get likes to their page.

    Grow the fan base first through ads... once that's established, try pushing through with coupons and vouchers... or even direct them to a squeeze page via a tab on the fan page.
