in your experience which is more valuable, a facebook fan or a twitter follower? All niches are welcome to comment

And I would like to hear any experiences with facebooks latest algorithm whether you haven't noticed a difference or not in your reach.

Facebook is decreasing the reach of the posts forcing pages to buy ads, not sure about this for twitter if the tweet will show to all followers or to those recently interacted

Paid social media guys may refer you towards buying Facebook fans because they are less costly then twitter followers. I agree it is true but there are other facts to follow here. Research shows that on Facebook 12% to 16% of your fans are able to see fresh posts, on the other side on twitter all of your followers see what you tweet so apart from that cost efficient thing twitter fan following is more reliable and organic then Facebook fan following.

In the past I would have said Facebook fans were more valuable. However, as others have suggested, organic reach has massively decreased. So, a Twitter follower is better at this point.

That being said, you should try to get your followers off of Twitter and on your list ASAP. Many people start using Twitter and then go inactive. Also, once someone starts following a lot of people, there is much less chance they'll see your Tweets.

If you can get someone on a list, you stand a much better chance of eventually securing them as a customer.

If you can genuinely gain twitter followers its much better as people will see all your pots, compared to facebook where this number is between 10-20% depending on how active your page is.

I believe Facebook is still better to reach your audience. It offers more so Facebook fan can get more valuable information from you than Twitter fan.

Yeah, Facebook is so much easier to navigate than Twitter. When I use Twitter, I generally only scroll through a few posts, and then I'll type in a keyword I want info on

To me, Facebook is a social device, while Twitter is more for news/information

Facebook fans are more cost efficient than Twitter followers. Also Facebook is used more by students, families, professionals while twitter is used more by professionals.

Actually time to think abt new social media strategy in this year. you can reap visitors, b2b, b2c from both twitter and facebook. but the matter is how you engaging the audience, what ur giving them to share and retweet.

Probably Twitter because your followers will see every Tweet you send out as long as they're online. Whereas, Facebook hides you posts from being included in most of your fans' feeds. It is also much easier to get followers on Twitter. Both are certainly important though and you should try getting as many followers as possible on both platforms.

Both is important, i think it's depend on where are you used to be ..
I've get a more viral traffic from twitter rather than facebook.

For now, i use twitter to 'promote' my facebook fanpages, just because on facebook fanpages we could manage our product more neat than on twitter.

If you have no fan or follower then twitter is best as you can get lot of traffic with hashtags.

Twitter has a relevancy, where facebook hasn't got that feature at all ! Using hashtags in twitter can reach much more relevant customers rather facebook...They even targeting pages who are not paying for their services...Gross ! They are insisting to promote your business through adverts.

In my opinion they're both equal. Sometimes Facebook doesn't show "fans" posts, so they might not see it. On the other hand, a twitter follower might skim over your tweet and not be engaged by it.
As for dedication or ability to convert a number of fans/followers into traffic, I've found that people I interact with on Twitter are far more likely to check out a blog post or product review of mine than people I interact with in the comment sections of Facebook posts.
