Have a $1k daily ad budget for social media...

I typically do large campaigns (5-10k+ daily) for clients through media buying...but I have a current project that requires some social media awareness.

I have to admit I'm not a social media expert but the client wants me to do it as I've garnered amazing results with their general campaigns through media buying, etc.

I'm looking for either some advice as to the best use of these funds or to partner with an expert to help me monetize this budget in exchange for allowing this expert to run a campaign for themselves (on my social media accounts) and use a portion of this budget.

I cannot get into too much detail here about the exact goals, site name, etc for privacy purposes. However I'd be very open to communicating privately with some individuals...or if you'd be so kind as to offer some advice here but I know it's hard with limited details.

This campaign starts Monday...lol

Thanks!

My those are some big numbers, must be some large businesses. Social media "awareness" can be difficult to determine ROI, so make sure you know what metrics will be used to determine success.

Reputation is everything in business and if you don't feel confident with that much on the line I'd just refer someone else to handle the whole project where you would just get a commission for a finders fee. Don't want to bite off more than you can chew.

Agreed...I've been doing some testing with FB ads,etc and it's backing out quite nicely but I just cant seem to get the volume (obviously I have to bid more and do more tweaking)...but really I'm looking to diversify in a couple areas like doing some stuff on twitter, seeing if there are any large pages that can be paid to post to their fans, etc, etc

With that kind of budget, I would set up a variety of different campaigns each with their own goal. For example, some can be to gain new likes on the page, some could be for post engagement, some can drive traffic direct to websites, and others could be used to run contests. Just a thought!

It also depends on what you're promoting, and what your cost is per sale. Sometimes, investing in likes is a great way to build brand awareness on Facebook. Especially with a budget like that you can get a lot of exposure. Just make sure that you trust someone who's got experience and can prove it to you. Don't waste $$$ trying to learn social media marketing at your clients expense.

The better your results, the more you look like a freakin rockstar.

Be sure to split up that budget into multiple campaigns, and be sure to have lots of creative in the same campaign - Facebook picks the winner from the best one.

Also good piece of advice I got from a guy who worked at Facebook- never leave a campaign up for more than 3 days. You may notice the price starting to increase over time and supposedly the third day is the magic day that Facebook really jacks up the price.

          Two other cool tricks:

If you're going for purchase or app downloads always be sure to only target people on Wifi. Not quite sure why but always drops the price for me.

This is a bit of an obvious one but never ever do white on white. Always put on a border at the least.

I do FB ads of about $1000 a day, feel free to reach out to me to chat more.

This is some great info mate!

            A few things:

            1) I usually run campaigns for a week or so, never really paid attention to the increased CPC. I'll look at it now.

            2) I've heard that about the border.

            3) I saw that you didn't get a good CTR on boosted posts, what were you trying to promote? I got a better CTR on BP than I did regular ads...

one other thing, big brands with big budgets, blow all their end of quarter budget on facebook (fastest way to spend whatever is left)

so its always best to spend on facebook contra these big spends to get the lowest bid.

so limit facebook ad purchasing in december, and go big in january.

Wow! Great tips...I actually have noticed the cost go up over the week on my current ads! Thanks so much...

Do you find this for all campaign types? As of right now I'm doing campaigns for likes and to the clients website...going to add promoted posts today and see what else I can add.

As for twitter I'm going to experiment with some paid/sponsored tweets through sponsoredtweets.com and some targeted sites that will tweet on your behalf from the site buyads.com

You should really think about getting quality shares from real people. Be careful with buying them in bulk especially because you can get them banned. If your working with that much money you really should do it correctly. There are only a few easy ways to get real shares, the question is still.....how many times do these users share per day? Is it in a natural looking manner? Is it traceable?

If your just referring to ad placements, I believe facebook is one of the few options, I just created a campaign there, make sure you use the manual CPC setting.

Contests work way better for me for getting likes.

Facebook allows them now for Like contests and comment contests.

    Tagging and sharing not allowed.

All of this really depends on what you're doing it for. If you're looking to convert I've found promoted posts aren't great.

What's your goal, simply more likes and more traffic? Or getting more sold?

That's interesting...so what do you do? Use something like this Facebook Contest Software - WizeHive and make the entry be that they have to like your page?

I'd love to know if there is any particular software you used...or can you do this just from promoting a post?

I don't do anything, I know the people who can set everything up, just give them the Facebook page and watch the likes come pouring in, they may be able to do any social network for you as you set conditions for them to enter the giveaway.....they have a pretty big following which is why it's so effective. I did it about a year ago, I could imagine their reach increased even more since. Most are moms who enter giveaways all day, but they also enter in their families accounts as well.

I do contests as well work really well. I had 2400 3 weeks ago and just hit 10,000 with a total contest budget of 360. I did put in a sharing component that got my posts taken down... but the likes stayed around.

It's really easy to just run a contest by just putting it on facebook and your site as well.

    KoreanCowboy

I'm promoting app downloads, and mainly do it through News Feed suggested apps.

The contests have gotten me likes at a cheaper rate than boosted posts can, for one $120 contest I got 1100 shares on a post and 2400 new page likes in a week. Plus my fans leave good comments because they think it will hep them win the contest.

The contests aren't returning at the same rate as they were before, so when the well runs dry I'll try boosting posts again.

I haven't tried promoting downloads through boosted posts yet, but haven't heard anything positive about it yet. What were you promoting when boosted posts worked well for you?

Not more than $20 for Facebook advertising on daily basis. $20 is good enough for generating both brand awareance and leads.

    Think about the archer metaphor.
You have a nice bow ($1k/day budget), the arrow is your market strategy, and the target is your ROI.
You need to focus, breath, research and get to know whats your target and where to hit it.
