Tips for improving your facebook pages and profiles

I thought I would start a thread here to give some tips about how to improve your facebook pages and also your profiles and to give some very useful information about facebook in general.

So I'll be adding to this list as time goes by, but here are a few tips to start off.

1. If you have a main page, or only one page you can get a connection to it from your profile by filling out the about section in your profile and where it asks for "Add A Job" Instead of putting you employer or self employed, put the link to your page. That way there is a direct link to your page from your profile

2. Whenever posting on any of my pages, I always set facebook to post as my page and not as my profile. It shows constancy and looks better on the wall of the page. You can do this by going to your page you want to post on and then to Edit Page at the top right and then "use facebook as "your page name"
The huge advantage of doing this is that if you have several pages, like I do, you can set each of them to post as your page and they will all be independent.

3. On your profile, you are limited to only 5000 friends. When that total is reached, no one else can friend you. To allow yourself to gather more friends or followers rather, (which is useful for reach and engagement when promoting) setup a Follow button on your profile. You can have unlimited followers.

4. Instead of using facebook Ads to get likes, Setup a tab on your page and draw in (iframe) a opt in form, from your website, using a free facebook app from Thunderpenny. You can search for it in the search menu of facebook. It is simple to use. set the iframe drawn in opt in to those who have liked your page. Then set the fangate part to a blurred out image of the same Opt In and put a CTA to like your page for instant access. Thunderpenny's app has the ability to draw in an image to the fan gated section as well. Of course you can do this with a 3rd party tool like LeadPages or Heyo, or Shortstack as well, I'm a do it yourself first kind of person though. Offer a free something for the Opt In. This way you get a very engaged like and also you build your list, for the same ad dollar.

I will add to this thread as we go along. I hope you find it useful.

Thanks, Scott
