Hi guys

We have just launched our new forum but not having much luck at driving traffic from our social media attempts

Anyone got any tips and tricks

    There ARE no tricks to social media engagement,
    which is what you'll need to focus on in social
    networks - engaging.

    As are as TIPS goes....

    Based on what niche your forum is in, I'd
    suggest that you join relevant groups on
    each social network and contribute to them.

    Actually engage with the other members.
    Talk the talk that YOU know. The talk that
    relates to your forum. Every once in a
    while contribute something about your
    forum. Whether it's a simple invite or
    a reason as to why your forum can help
    the members of the community.

    But do this rarely. Like a ratio of 8 to 2.
    For every eight non-promotional updates
    post two promotional ones.

    If you're not yet on G+, join it.

    The same day make it your business to join
    groups (on Google Plus) that relate to your forum.

    Sorry I don't have a quick fix it for social
    media marketing, but it's really all about
    socializing on there. So, be natural and
    engage.

    The traffic to your forum will come.

      Thats great, but dont forget about quality of the content.
      Sometimes people just want to generate too many words as content. But thats boring. Think great, think what would you read and start working on the content. Dont be lazy and wait something come from heaven.

    In my opinion, with your niche you can find:
    - Fan page, group about that (try software to find it or you graph search, hash tags)
    - Connect with some influence in your niche (chat, email, comment on blogs...)
    - Share special something
    - Create your communication in G+, FB...

    1. Try to engage with other members and make communications.
    2. Try to develop relationship with them.
    3. Share your interests with members.
    4. Join group.

    Here are some Tips for you:

    Facebook:

    Try and share your posts on Facebook.
    Add and share button on your forum posts.
    Maintain Fan page.
    Create custom landing page.
    Interact to your audience through your fan page.
    Give recommendations, ask for requests and share helpful links.
    Share relevant posts.
    Answer to the questions asked by your audience.
    Include a positive message in all content.
    Use Facebook groups to generate traffic
    Share images, Quotes.

    Twitter:

    Follow people and post daily.
    Monitor your keywords and Customize background on your profile.
    Mix your website links and content in with posts and don’t auto-follow.
    Try and involve Twitter followers to your forum.
    Follow and Retweets posts from people related to your niche.
    Use a hashtag and post friendly comments

    And you should start a LinkedIn group..

    You want to reach as many networks as possible starting with most important. Start creating accounts on all the top 15 social networks and book-marking sites, Then you start posting and marketing

    • You can automate it using Social publishing services like Onlywire which will publish your content on all networks you are in.
    • You can even take it even further with a syndication service which allows other people to publish your content on their profiles.
    • When you have established your profiles start engaging in any way you can rather it is joining groups or other methods, each network is unique.

    You don't want to follow so many people, use a well known company in your niche as an example. They dont follow hundreds of people, thousands follow them, but some people choose to follow and unfollow later. I tend to walk the walk from the beginning and build slowly until your time comes.

    For Facebook, the best way is to use their paid advertising. Same with StumbleUpon. For Pinterest, you'll have to use good images.

    Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but be sure to have a fanpage... you can also build up that fanpage, or bypass that completely and send traffic directly to a squeeze page...

    If you're sending traffic directly to the forum, not sure that would be a viable way to go about it... so instead, send them to a squeeze page with maybe a free gift, or a free video strategy, etc.

    At least now, you've got the leads and can email them... that's where you can promote your forum.

    Whatever the medium (FB, twitter, Pinterest),to drive traffic you really only need to remember 2 things:

    1. post great content
    2. engage with followers

    That's what people want and keeps them coming back. It's what encourages them to recommend you social media page and, in turn, your website. Just keep these 2 things in mind and you will be fine.

    Take time to cultivate your following and fans on sites like Facebook and Twitter. These people are looking for social interaction or conversation, so give it to them. Don't just post memes, get involved and talk with these people and you can drive interested traffic from your page/groups to your forum.

    There are some things missing here...what kind of social media have you tried till now? What kind of business are you in? What audience are you targeting?

    In my experiences Social Medias is working really well, bringing massive traffic to my site and also generating me a passive income (more than $1500/mo). I wrote a book about my strategy - you can PM me, if you are interested.

    The basic thing is to find out what SM is the most suitable for your business. Second, how you approach that SM and what are your activities there. Are people see you as an authority in your area? Or do they see you as a spammer that only promotes his offers but not adding any value in...

    Email marketing is another great way to increase customer interaction and loyalty. Of course they can all follow you on social media, but social media content is more general and given to a lot of people at a time. But email marketing allows you to custom-create each campaigns (newsletters, giveaways, promos, industry updates) based on each contact group.

    Many softwares allow you to segment your contact list in whichever groups you would like to organize them in (new subbies, regular customers, long time loyals). You can create a welcome email for the newer subscribers, or a special giveaway for the more established customers as a thank you for following.

    So because the content you are giving to each customer is more relevant to their interests/status to your company, there is more likelihood that they will gain favor and trust in your company, and your target marketing will in more results.

    I've learnt the hard way with online community in that the best thing you can do is; build the community before you launch the community. That is, make conversation and network with folks that are interested in your topic - then launch the forum.

    Folks aren't going to go to a place without existing members. The best website for advice on community is feverbee.com - check it out.
