Social signals do help but it's not a huge help. There are countless stories on the subject that claim they have ranked their website on page 1 without a single backlink. Just social signals.

Twitter absolutely helps with SEO. If you can get a lot of retweets especially on your tweets along with some comments and favorites, you can combine that with a few hashtags to sometimes storm the rankings. It does not always work and it does not always work well but for a new domain on an exact match term, the result can be exceptional. I once took first ranking on a competitive term using this strategy totally for free just by sending @ messages. You can't send too many or you will get your account suspended though

Give it a try and let me know how it goes here! Give it a few weeks to work completely.

I will definitely try to get some followers to get rankings and tell you how it works in terms of twitter as a SEO Social Media. BTW thanks for the strategy.

I think google + has a good social signal. It's maybe can improve seo and also built backlink even though google + is nofollow.

Social signals are the future, I believe they are pretty much even with authority backlinks. Popularity is how Google likes to rank sites with latest Panda Penguin updates. I would do 50/50 as far as building social and authority backlinks.

It won't matter what people say.
There is no proof by any commenters.

Show me that you got 2 domains, same content metrics, same backlink metrics, same DA/PA and age metrics and then send social to one domain and then nothing to the other one and THEN compare (more metrics to take into account, just making a point).

You can NEVER say it works or not if you haven't tested it.
Speculation is all I'm seeing so far and nothing to back it up

There are plenty of case studies, social signals are a form of backlinks, sites should focus on both authority and the people who share their links. Of course no one knows googles algorithm, but we do know that Google looks at backlinks in general and social authority

        Who is WE?
        Where is the proof?

After testing 100's domains and 1,000's of keywords I call it bluff.
Just show me ONE real example, then we talk more

Social signals do not help. Matt Cutts himself said so. But, if there is a lot of genuine social interest in a particular domain or webpage, it is possible the traffic and the backlinks do help in increasing PR or search engine ranking. IMHO

Yep very true. The only exception would be social signals on the Google + network. A lot of people confuse correlation and causation. Chances are that if a piece of content is generating a lot of engagement and social signals, then it is also getting natural backlinks to the content.

As for someone who said they ranked something or knew someone that ranked something with no backlinks, just social signals, then you are ignoring hundreds of other factors that are involved. I rank content regularly with some pretty competitive keywords just from on page optimization.

Do Social signal and you will get traffic from these social network. If this is link back to your website. I believe it counted in seo backlink score. However, most of major social network is no-follow.

Quality social signals are considered one of the most important aspects of SEO these days and indeed many people claim to have ranked their sight solely through this. I would say the top 3 social signals are Google+, Twitter and Facebook.

Thought I would throw my opinion in here people, social signals create links, if your content is shared then those shares are backlinks, no follow I agree but do you honestly believe that Google does not follow? Never take anything Matt Cutts say's to heart, instead read between the lines, it's what Matt is not saying that you should pay attention to. If I fire PR2+ links (and yes I still believe PR to be a good metric) from my own network then my sites rank quickly, if I get plenty of social interaction and I'm not talking viral stuff here then it certainly helps. so in short links are king but social shares retweets ect... helps a lot too, look at them as components of ranking, would sites rank with just socail shares - hell yes but you need a lot of them, will sites rank with just good quality links - most definately yes, is it easier to combine both, if you have 6-10 PR2+ sites then no, but best practice would say that the combination of both would produce the best results only if you have good relevant interesting content that people want to view and or read.

Social signals from any other social network than Google+ won't help you, Google+ does. Google wants it to hit off like Facebook, and Google owns it so its bound to get some extra attention. Ain't it.
