Inexplicable Facebook fans growth

Hi,

A friend of mine has a small Facebook page for a workshop he organizes. Up until today he had around 250 likes, with a weekly growth of about 5 likes/week.

Today however the page likes jumped to 360 likes, so more than 100 likes in one day. He hasn't been using ads or Facebook fan growth "services" nor he posted anything special or viral. Also, from those 100 likes, most of them are surely not interested in the content of the page - because of language barriers firstly - as the page content is in Romanian and there were a lot of quite strange accounts - with no activity or no photos.

What could have caused this? Do you see anything that could threaten the activity of the page? Thanks!

Facebook like sellers giving you free likes .. your 'friend' might just get a message soon saying .. 'we sent you some free likes .. go to XXXXX to order more'

This "friend of yours" has absolutely nothing to worry about so you... er.. your friend can rest easy.

Thanks both for your responses. This is what I also thought, although it seems strange that these sellers would target such a small and niched page. Do you see this happening often with Facebook pages?

    P.S. It's really a friend, not "a friend"

I agree with Brutecky and others on it. That could be a ''LIKE'' sale person who offered you free likes and then later he may gonna PM you his offers, but such likes are not organic and bring no good to your project so i recommend not to go with it!
