I was thinking about posting a few product reviews on hubpages, wanted to know if anybody was successful using that approach. Thanks.

I think HP—and sites like it—are all but dead these days. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. It's been a really long time since I posted anything on rev-share sites.

I do know that I saw HP advertising for writers on Craigslist last week. That's never a good sign.

On the whole, you get what you pay for.

they've been advertising on CL for a while. lol they make it look like an actual writing gig but in reality its just a "hey create content for our mega site and we'll let you use 1 adesnse ad alongside all of our advertising....maybe, if we don't ban your hub for no reason."

OP, Why not just do this on your own site? Far less hoops to jump through, and HP traffic isn't going to convert anyway so the small amount of traffic you'll get from them is negligible imo. Plus you wont have to fight HP for ad clicks.

As long as you remain objective in
    your approach with product reviews
    you'll be fine.

Hubpages is very strict when it comes to
    affiliate products and being self-promotional.

In fact, I published a few review type hubs on
there years ago that still generates revenue.

Hubpages is one of the internet's best
kept secrets. The community is great,
it's user friendly, and it can pay you for
    years if you publish consistently.

It feels really good when you get random
    payments from Hubpages.

My advice would be to focus on educating the reader.

Make it readable - especially by using
plenty of "white space" between your
    paragraphs.

Also, make your hubs interactive with
polls and/or videos. The more "sticky"
you make your hubs, the more healthy
    the hub will be.

    My product reviews recieve consistent
organic traffic, thus, boosting the ad
    revenue I share w/ Hubpages.

You CAN certainly make legit money on
Hubpages. There's no question about it.

I was doing well with it in early 2012,
I quit it after I saw big drop in traffic I used to get from there.

Here are just some stats on Hubpages (as of 3/18/2014).

    According to Alexa...

Hubpages is ranked 576 in the world.
Hubpages is ranked 417 in the United States

Traffic is declining, yes. In fact, it's world
ranking is down 40 spots from the previous
    90 period.

As for their page rank, Hubpages is 6 of 10.

It is true that they are not as powerful as
they once was, however, it's still a great
    place to publish content.

Don't get me wrong, as the most ideal
location to place content is on a website
    of your own.

Hubpages will still send you checks!

With that said, I would use Hubpages
for all of your "off brand" content.

You, know...all of the etcetera stuff.

You CANNOT backlink to affiliate links
or even a lead capture page, but you
can leave a backlink to wherever you
    wish from your HP profile.

I attribute most of my SERP to my
    Hubpages presence. Engines still index
their pages, which is why they're so
strict as to what they allow on there.
