Exactly How Do I Use StumbleUpon To Get Mass Traffic To My Website?

Can anyone set out the simple steps in order to successfully use SU for traffic generation? I hear of some users getting crazy traffic numbers to their site, 600K etc.

How exactly?

Without crushing your dreams, I don't think anyone is realistically getting 600k uniques from stumbleupon anymore. The traffics just not there anymore.

I've had limited success with SU in the past by doing the following.

    1. Register a new account and stumble my site.
    2. Register a few new accounts and re-stumble the site to get the ball rolling

There was also a SU service I tried once, but the results were very limited.

I have seen some traffic spikes by doing the following:

    1. Download the toolbar
    2. Stumble your own page with a review
    3. Use the share feature in the toolbar for Twitter
    4. Add a call to action like "#StumbleThis"
    5. Copy the tweet to use in Hootsuite or TweetAdder

This seems to work because the stumble upon tool bar will give you a specialized stumbleupon shortened URL. When the user clicks on it from Twitter they can instantly hit the thumbs up (if they are logged in to stumbleupon). This has gotten me thousands of hits and I just started implementing it with a very small Twitter following.

The call to action is in the Tweet I normally use #StumbleThis people who use stumbleupon will know what that means and the hashtag seems to help with visibility. I will either put that at the beginning or end of the Tweet.

The article below is almost two years ago, however I think there is still a struggle for stumbleupon which is not anymore a good source of traffic. But for some people SU still works for them. I hope I don't make any confusion but you can still see it for yourself and give it a try. How? Add a link and submit it to an appropriate category, put relevant tags and description; as simple as that.

To get that much traffic from SU, you have to go back to the year 2006!

I don't think stumbleupon is still that effective. However, just like any other social media accounts, if done right, it can still give your site some traffic.

People get tons of traffic from their ads. It called StumbleUpon paid discovery - https://www.stumbleupon.com/pd. You can get really cheap clicks.

Last time I had $5 advertising one of the blog posts and got over 100 stumbles, few facebook share and twitter tweets. And keeping in mind that blog post wasn't even all that exciting, these are okay stats.

Many use this for split testing

It seems the paid advertising system of StumbleUpon. How about the traffic? Does traffic targeted?

yes that;s exactly what it is. And yes you can get somewhat targeted traffic. I think it lets you choose country and niche category.

The blog post I had didn't have any ads on it so not exactly sure about conversions but I heard from others that you do get conversions with StumbleUpon traffic

I think most of those pictures that go viral are either from accounts with thousands of followers, using paid advertising or both.

Stumble upon is the best source to bring traffic on your site but it increase Bounce rate of my website

Good point in regards to bounce rate.
Unless you capture the attention well,
that SU user just keeps it moving.

I have tried stumble upon lots of times, but have stopped it. I got traffic, even a lot, but the value was very very low. The other thing was that I got traffic for my new submissions for the moment or for 2 days but later no traffic. So I think you should take into consideration more how much worth is it the traffic that you will get.

If you want to increase your website traffic via StumbleUpon, you have to connect to as many stumblers within your niche related, stay active and stumble more often, and join new communities to make new connections.
