Facebook Ads Approved, but getting low impressions...what am I doing wrong?

I have had the toughest time getting my Facebook "Like" campaigns to get going. Getting my ads approved has been no problem, it's that Facebook is slow to serve the ads.

I had my campaign approved over 10 hours ago and so far, I have only received 81 impressions. Of that, I got 3 likes so that's good conversion.

I am targeting about 2 million people and I've narrowed down my interest as much as I can. (I'm promoting an indie film, so I have to go for a larger audience). I'm using oCPM and Bidding for Page Likes. I also have my budget set at $10.00 a day. I read the literature on what to improve, but most of that was related to CPC. If I am allowing FB to bid on my behalf, what can I improve to get it going better?

After I deleted my ads and started over, it seemed like it was doing the same thing. However, it seemed my ads got going in the later part of the day, they just weren't converting the way I wanted (only 1.4%), so I set up a different ad. Ironically, when I use "Boosted Posts", I seldom have any issues, but I want more control over my ads.

Is this standard? Is there anything else I can do to get FB to start actually serving my ad?

    Hi mate,

I think I can help you here.

Ive spent 15k on FB and they basically spread your daily budget over the day. So a) if you are only spending $10 a day you are going to $10 over the entire day. And b) if they CPM is high bid ie OCPM then you might be paying a high CPM with will drop the traffic estimates for your daily budget low.

Try upping your budget to $200 a day and watch the traffic come in alot faster.

    Hope that helps.

      Hi Dkane,

Thank you for the quick response. I currently upped my budget to $200, but what if I don't have a daily budget of $200? Is this just to get the traffic to come and then I reduce the budget or should I switch to a different model with a smaller budget?

      Thanks so much!

    Hey mate,

Yeh the $200 budget is just a short term test (hour or two) to show you that FB will give you traffic based on how much you are telling them you want to spend per day. You can turn it off after the $10 mark ( which can be pretty fast- like an hour).

Also I would run at least 3 ads (no more than 5 on that budget) since FB will give the most traffic to the ad that is most responsive.

Also keep in mind look at your max CPM bid- if its too low you will also get little traffic. If CPM is less than $2 then you are also going to get very little traffic ( in my experience).

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers

    dk

I wouldn't use ocpm. Duplicate you ads 3 times and set 3 different bids in cpm. That is the way I optimise my bids. Otherwise you can end up paying way too much.

Hey bro, for which country you are placing ads?

There might be few issues which I can see with teamviewer or on skype.

Everyone is different... if you're targeting people in the US (just as an example), then don't shut the ad down if it's night time in the USA and you're not getting the results you want... let it roll throughout the day to get better results... this applies to all countries.

Also, are you using Right hand side ads or newsfeed? We get great results with both, but both have different strategies, at least with my business. Test out both.

You might be targeting a very competitive niche where many other advertisers are bidding as well. It's too early to tell but I would let your campaign run for a week to pick up some pace! Facebook campaigns tend to get better impressions over time.
