phone verification for youtube channel

I have a number of YouTube channels to put up and have been using google voice for verification. Now I'm getting the message 'The forwarding phone on your account cannot be used to obtain a Google Voice number'.

I'm totally up a creek. How do you verify your youtube channels??

    Ouch, I tried to do this without a real phone and it could not be done. At least I could not figure it out. I would recommend you have a friend verify if you have that option.
