Okay...so custom audiences are no more?

I just want to make sure this is accurate. I have terrible timing I JUST got into trying to market TeeSpring shirts last week only to find out they no longer accept ads with custom audiences (after spending lik $200 on scraping software).

Today I'm doing a 'LIKE' campaign and tried to upload some custom audiences and THAT was rejected.

So is Facebook just plain not allowing any custom audiences anymore? If that's the case why the hell do they even have the option?

Try Adwords, far better than Facebook advertising and awesome conversions.

I'm not targeting age or names, just people who have liked/commented on certain posts on certain pages. I can get the ads using these custom audiences approved, but only if I point the ads to ANY OTHER website but Teespring.

Kinda sucks, cause now I have to 301 redirect (which i suspect might be losing me some conversions due to shared hosting/load times) or use interest targeting, which I haven't had any success with yet.

I launched a campaign with custom audiences the other day so it should be working.

That's because you're in London. It isn't working in the US. I tested this out by hiring some people off Elance to upload a custom audience list and launching an ad in India, France, and the UK -- they all got approved. I added them onto an ads campaign on my FB and told them to upload the same custom audience and it was rejected.

I suppose FB will start with these restrictions abroad next.

It no longer works! It's against Facebook TOS. I just got 3 custom audiences rejected, targeting names. I even implemented the workaround of adding different countries into the list but still got rejected.

Yeah it no longer works if you've used some bot/tool to scrape user ID's.

You're custom audience is supposed to be your customers or people who are already on your email list.

For what you are selling, if facebook is an issue, I recommend adwords, but make sure do not lose your shirt from the bidding.

I don't really like Adwords. It's easier to target people with Facebook, it costs less, and I get guaranteed purchases.

I would only use Adwords for list building maybe, but I can build lists more rapidly on Facebook. I just ran a "Like" campaign today and have 800 new likes for $20 (11 % CTR at $.07 per click). The "Likes" I've gained are already responsive, by replying and sharing my posts. It just seems like a better deal. I can rapidly build up a list of fans for a demographic and start selling relevant products to them.

So at this stage, is it not worth purchasing a scraping tool such as Facesniper or Social Lead Freak to assist me with advertising campaigns?

I'm wondering the same because it seems like the US is getting screwed on the Custom Audience trick. I would wait another week before pulling the trigger on purchasing FaceSniper.

Facebook COULD just be testing new features or temporarily halting "warrior style" custom audience targeting.

Teespring has single handedly brought down custom audiences. And I will say, I probably get at least 3 ads a day for some horrible shirt design or another. It seems that everybody with a laptop and at least 3 fingers are creating Teespring ads. Not only is Facebook getting swamped with tee shirt ads, the very nature of the product is suspect as there is no traditional 'quality control.' In other words, Facebook is now billboarded with a gazillion (and mostly awful) teeshirt designs. I think people are just sick of seeing them. Teespring fatigue.

I called it months ago. I knew it would eventually catch up and FB would get sick of it. Think of the money that the first handful of people would STILL be making if they didn't give away the strategy on this forum....

Absolutely. I do this for my own sites and my clients do it with success as well. If people would stop trying the HARD SELL via Facebook, they'd have far more success.
