I don't think its relevant. I think whats more relevant is what you have to offer in the content/pictures that you post or "pin". Is it helpful to other people? Is it engaging, is it interesting? I think this is more important

Pinterest is not very good for traffic IMO. It's great for marketing fashion and design but if your business is into something else then it's not the best place to start with.

Business account is good to go
I never got bothered by setting up a Women profile to attract pinners

I had set my original profile and i just make sure that i share quality stuff, not only promoting my sites but also finding some quality pins and repinning them
if you keep on this track you start getting good response

From what I've read having a female profile is a big advantage if you are looking for Pinterest traffic. Apparently some 70% of the users there are female between the age of 30 and 50.

I use Pinterest and get a fair amount of traffic from it. You must not just post the stuff you are trying to get traffic too though. They will see through that way fast.

Pinterest is really good for traffic. i am getting 50% of my traffic though pinterest. You can also try this, and no need to create a fake or with a female profile. if you really have good content to pin you'll get traffic. just sign up and start pining.

Pinterest is not useful for all type of businesses,thus traffic and user involvement depends upon the business you are doing.Even if you are going ahead and promoting your business through Pinterest then don't make fake profile,content is the king in Social Media,if you have a excellent content then everyone will visit your page.

Thanks to everyone for your input on this - I won't bother making a female profile, just get on with making boards. I have one or two old blogs with photos on them that I made just for fun a few years ago, but haven't updated in ages. Traffic is virtually non-existent, of course, but I might try to monetize them with AdSense and see if I can drive some traffic from Pinterest just to see how it goes.

Of course, in the longer term, I'd be looking to send traffic to, say, Amazon from pages that receive traffic from Pinterest, but I haven't settled on products to promote that way yet, and the AdSense thing will at least let me see how Pinterest works.

I am pretty new to pinterest, but wanted to ask all you veterans how long it takes from the time you pin something to a board for it to show up in the pinterest search. I posted a few pins to a board over a day ago now and they do not show in search or in "Just my pins". Is there a lag time for them to show up on pinterest or should I be able to see them under "Just my pins" immediately when searching? Thank you.

People aren’t joining Pinterest to socialize or catch up with old friends. They’re joining to discover new things and bookmark thins that inspire and interest them. More and more people are turning to Pinterest to do things they once used a search engine like Google or Bing.
Pinterest is the best way to improve the link for the seo

Right, but does anyone have an answer with why the things I am pinning to my board are not showing up in the search results? I always figured it would immediately show up in the search when you pinned them. Is there a lag time of some sort on pinterest? I am most concerned because when I search even "Just my pins" it does not bring up any of the pins I have done over the past few days, only ones from months ago when I first started. Anyone that can pm me an answer, it would be very appreciated. Thanks.

I have noticed that some of my pins will not show up for about a week, while some others show up almost immediately. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. They will all show up eventually.

Thanks Jason. So I will await a little over a week to check on them then. I was hoping it was just something like that and not an error I would need to contact them about.

What are your thoughts on posting the website links that go directly to the post in the description area of the post as well?

I have been doing that with my new posts as in some of the tutorials it was saying that was a good tactic to do as well to give people an extra way to get to the site easier than just clicking the image. Is that an okay thing to do or do you see it as beneficial as well?

I think it depends on your business. If you have enough images which are attractive and related to your business. Start to make boards on pinterest. Many companies are getting more user engagement through pinterest.

1. Pinterest can drive huge traffic.
2. The key is get 10000+ followers.
3. If you believe in truth and being nice then create your own profile.

Pinterest is the perfect way to generate good traffic to the site and decent money too. It must be done properly though!

For good converting traffic Pin Interest is Great for Me.
I feel you should not over concern yourself with creating a fake female profile as long as you provide good captivating, quality content the Ladies will like it.
Social media is one of the top ways to formulate highly converting targeted traffic. Try and get a Facebook and Twitter account too, you can connect them together and your quality posts can be stretched across the social Medias.
