Has anyone had success using FB ads? I keep going back-and-forth on trying it or not... just curious if anyone has used it and had a positive experience. Thanks!

I'm the marketing director for a truck dealership, so we've been doing some targeted ads to generate truck leads. We basically run an ad to people in our territory that like trucks, trucking, etc... I'm basically paying a PPC to drive them to my website. About $0.65 a click right now. Most recent campaign started on 5/8 and sent 88 people to our website.

Since we sell $50,000 to $150,000 equipment it is cheap for us. We also only sell to businesses, not individuals.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any car dealers doing this yet. Probably a good thing to get into if someone could put a program together for a car dealership.

Great idea, JTR. Do you have a sense about whether the traffic converts, do you get leads?

It's grad for me to do that. We have a landing page which has a contact is form and a special 1-800 number for tracking, but it is easily clicked off of into our website. There have been a couple that have called or filled out the form, probably more that browsed the site and then called.

Our sales process is long. It can be short as a couple days or many many months. Hard to track from start to finish.

        • Hi Jtr8178,

For your Facebook ad -- Do you target a custom audience with members of active niche-related Facebook groups and fans of active niche-related Facebook pages? These can be Facebook groups of small to large-scale business associations in your target local areas, local trucking-related Facebook pages and so on...

Facebook yields results, provided you know how to use it. And it works for certain products and does not for a few. I know a company that used Facebook to promote its paid mobile apps but it did not do well. But when they tried with free mobile apps, it worked in their favor.

    • Karen,

In your example and normally in most cases -- The target audience of the ads could be more significant when it comes to generating results than the platform (Facebook) -- For example:

*** When we tested a custom audience comprised of local mobile users in Canada who are all members of active gaming-related Facebook groups for an ad that promoted the paid mobile app of our client, we got decent results, but when our tech team integrated Japanese language options into the mobile app of our client and promoted it to a custom audience comprised of mobile users in Japan who are all members of active gaming-related Facebook groups via an ad in Facebook -- We got much better results...

Of course. Thanks for letting me know your findings. As I said, it is a great tool and we all are still learning.

Yes, absolutely! Facebook is a HUGE source of traffic for us. It can work for virtually ANY business out there (unless you're selling drugs, casino, etc.). Aside from that, learn it's platform. It's one of the most targeted networks out there. You can really pinpoint your exact audiences.

BUT, don't be lazy. It has a learning curve to it, but once you "crack the code", you've can literally write your own paycheck just from FB alone.
