Question About Facebook Page and Google SEO

I believe that Google looks positively on if your post if it is being liked and shared on Facebook. Correct?

If you post a picture on your facebook page, and then add some words about a post of yours and a link does Google still look positively on that as a link share to your site when people like it and share it? Or do you have to post it as a link in order for that to happen?

  • I don't think it is.

You can try finding a popular page, pick its title, put on Google search.

I don't think you can see the post in that.

    Hey Sebastian,

I would have to say, absolutely!

If you have a post or a piece of content that is getting liked and shared, Google will notice that your content is going viral and show it more often to your target audience.

The big thing to remember with social media is that everything that is trending and starting to go viral, will definitely get maximum exposure because it is what everyone wants to see. Search engines show content more often when they know that it is liked and popular.

    Hope this helps!

Not really. I could search for something and the pages that pop up are pages that are getting tons of traffic and backlinks. As far as I know, google does not rank you based on likes and shares. That's facebook's algorithm. If you facebook page has tons of backlinks and traffic, then maybe it will show up on Google. But one post getting tons of likes and shares will not beat actual websites and blogs that are getting traffic and backlinks. When something goes viral, it will go viral within the platform it is going viral on. But when it comes to actual ranking, you have to know how the platform works.

Obviously, Google take those likes into consideration and you are more likely get better rankings for the pages you are getting more likes and +1s as Google prefers pages which have more social shares over pages which have less social shares.

Google does not indexes posts inside of Facebook. It does indexes how much likes a page has, its about us etc but not how many likes/shares a post on the page has got.

Although, it does take into account, how many shares/likes a particular link has got.

Refer to social signals on Google for more answers.

It does look good to Google but having your website shared on Facebook is more important in promoting your website than how it looks to Google because Facebook has “nofollow” links.
