Posting same content on all social media networks?

Just curious....is it bad to post up the same content on facebook, twitter, and google+? If I post up something on facebook, can I post it again on twitter and google+? I know that SEO rules state that duplicate content is prohibited and will harm your ranking. But does social media networks have a huge impact on SEO rules? I know that if you post the same content on different social media networks, you will reach more people. People on twitter want to know what the people on facebook are reading and vice versa.

    Hey,

I would say that you only need to worry about duplicate content when you are either writing articles or blog posts.

You can have the same content on your social media profiles because the SEO rules don't apply to those pages. Mainly, your social media profiles should be set up everywhere to showcase your business only on those specific social networks. Although your social media profiles can show up in search, you should not encounter any problems with PR or anything like that.

    Hope this is helpful!

I post the same content across all my social channels. It would be a logistics nightmare and very time consuming to do otherwise. All my channels are growing nicely and sending plenty of traffic to my site.

Post some content on one social network, wait for some days and later post it on another social network. Don not post same content at a time on all sites.

"Duplicate content' refers to having multiple duplicates of the same article on ONE domain. So you can post the same articles etc. on different domains, different social sites, etc. without a problem. It's actually good to share your posts across multiple social sites (and to get your visitors to do the same) since it will impact "Social Signals" and will help with SEO from that angle.

There is no problem in duplicating contentment across multiple social networks. Though it’s better to adjust it slightly to meet the requirement of the particular social network.

Posting same links on social media is okay as long as you do it do not over do it. People might see it as spam that is flooding their news feeds.

The same content is good. Some may be following you on only one site, so this allows everyone to see what you are posting.

However, targets on Facebook and Twitter for example may be reached differently. So I would consider making additional posts specifically to the style of the social media site.

I post some of the same content on different social sites, but just not on the same day (except for blogs, maybe). If I offer a coupon on one site, I may wait a few days before I offer the same on the other site.

I don't know if I have the same followers on these sites because the niche is the same, except one is broader. But I don't worry about it too much. Just mix it up.

I try to post all my blog posts on multiple social sites (Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, etc.) as well as on different bookmarking sites like Digg, Delicious, Diigo, StumbleUpon, etc.

Nothing wrong at all about doing that.

I get most of that work done on auto-pilot by setting up 1 of these methods for my blogs.

Yes, you can use same content on different social sites but you cannot use same content on same sites again and again. It may penalize your site.

Duplicate content is an SEO issue. Posting the same content to social media networks won't have any impact on your site's SEO. It might, however, cause your followers to tire of you.

Also, you shouldn't be linking to your site exclusively. If you do, your followers will stop paying attention to you. Even if you're a marketer, you don't want them to think so. This means linking to valuable information across the Web in addition to content on your own site.

I often post the same content to different social media sites, but not at the exact same day/time. I also like to use social media as a way to test out titles and headlines which point to content. So maybe it's the same blog post I'm linking to but the copy is different from Twitter to Facebook to LinkedIn, etc. Then I can track stats on which get better click throughs and engagement. This will also help prevent your followers from burning out.

Hi, I think that it depends on what you are posting. If the content is valuable and interesting I think it's ok to post on all forms of social media but if it's something that is tailored more towards one site than leave it on that site. An example is if you are posting something that relates to a holiday or special event that is coming up...then posting everywhere is good.

    Quick clarity question:

When people talk about posting the same content on different channels are you talking about posting the whole blog/article on each, or just a few lines with a link back to your blog/article on your main website?

Presently, I tend to post the main article on my home site then write a sentence or two on FB/Google+/Twitter to whet the appetite for people to read the artilce along with a link back to the main website.

Is this the best way or is there a better way?

sorry, but I disagree with most of you, lol

each social media network has it's own context, it's own 'playground' that you must play in.
SO posting the same content (as is) doesn't get you penalized, but doesn't really get you the most impact. If you really really want to take advantage of each platform, adjust that content to fit each context.

example, I wouldn't recommend just posting the same URL to all networks just to get distribution. sure it get's some traffic, but to use social media to it's fullest use them differently to engage and get eve MORE traffic. make sense?

ever see those funny images/memes explaining the social networks? don't just laugh at them, they are really explaining something LOL.

with that said... you CAN post a link to the same blog post (example) everywhere, but create different headlines, images, memes, quotes from the blog, to use for each proper platform. You will see amazing results that way.

I think it depends on the type of content you are posting. If you are posting the latest news about anything, then it is same for all social sites, but if you are posting articles or other things, then you may keep some variety in it.
