I would like to know why so many internet marketers post so much non business or marketing related things on facebook. Many of my FB "friends" who apparently are serious internet marketers seem to post lots of videos, funny comments, news stories, and lots of other stuff that has nothing to do with internet marketing. I would like to know why this is and should I be doing the same thing. If so where do I find all this "fun stuff" that most FB marketers seem to be posting in spades. Thanks.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Possibly so that you would enjoy their posts and not just find them "marketing" to you.

Fun stuff includes anything from personal anecdotes, interesting infographics, cool stuff. Try looking on Pinterest for visual "fun stuff."

Facebook is a social media platform meant primarily for enjoyment. Yes, you may be promoting Internet Marketing niche, but imagine if all your posts/shares are all about "boring and serious" articles, there would be not much interaction. Even if you keep a regular update post in your FB page but the topics are bland, you wouldn't gain new followers and interaction would remain static. So which would you prefer? A direct to the point interaction with marketers OR a wholly innovation where you entice non-marketers to visit and learn from you.

This is a common thing on social medias nowadays, it's not new at all. Facebook marketers must make every move more interesting and engaging for them to drive more traffic to their business or page. Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, etc - inorder for you to succeed you need not to be boring or otherwise viewers will just opt out or skip your page immediately if you're purely sending them all about your offers!

My personal Facebook page is well... personal. I'll rarely ever talk business & even then it may be only a quick mention of a new site or Facebook page I'm launching. I "may" mention a helpful link as many of my friends have blogs. Most of my Facebook friends are pool shooting buddies, old schoolmates, some social media/business connections and lots of Sasquatch research community connections (Yep...). I post what I'm interested in, what I find funny, my opinions, photos... because that's who I am. I don't want my personal Facebook page to be a sales page - I'll set up pages or groups for that (or participate in related groups).

Because it is brand marketing - The more likes you get, the more funny stuff you share and how many times it is being liked by others lets a lot of people know that your "brand exist" on the internet.

I've been doing a lot of facebook brand marketing lately and the more likes and shares you get the more likely the people will reply and listen to what you have for the next few ones even subscribe to you

Because videos, images, quotes etc. are most likely to get share and likes. It can be considered as a marketing strategy to help the business to get noticed.

Thanks for the feedback. Although I am on facebook I consider myself to be a bit of an outsider but I want to learn how to effectively market on it and if that means posting mostly a bunch of "cute" stuff that has nothing to do with my business then I'll do it. Other than pinterest where can I find stuff to post?

Well I would have to say Facebook could be used as a place to get away and play game while socializing. It could also be used as a tool to provide traffic. I feel someone should also want to have a escape, Could be used either way, just make a decision.

Some call it "jokes" or something like "non- marketing posts" but I called it an effective marketing, If you're just a normal person who's just looking for interesting posts maybe their point of views on your marketing posts isn't so interesting, they'll never share your post or maybe never look into your posts OR unfollow you. You need a diversion that interest normal people (or your potential costumers) a reason for them to stay on your posts.
