I'm about 30 opt ins behind my average upto this point in the day.

I was actually ahead of my highest day up until the 10a hour, that's when my pace slowed down significantly.

And, this is why you should never rely so heavily on one platform (especially one that you don't own) for lead generation. Spread it around, get on Tumblr and Twitter and any other social networking site that will let you. At least, any of the leads coming from there will soften the blow if you get sidelined on Facebook again.

Every time Facebook goes down, I love to head over to Twitter, and wait for #facebookdown to trend. It's hilarious. Anyone else do this?

I agree with Jeffrey, spread your opt-ins out across several Social Media networks. Social Media is basically a giant funnel for this. You've got the right idea by using it for opt-ins rather than direct sales. Add a few more networks, and you will see a difference. Then when Facebook goes down, the other networks will cover for your losses a bit.

The major networks I would suggest you consider are:
      • Twitter
      • Tumblr
      • Google+

Facebook is a very big site running with lots of daily traffic, so some downtime is only reasonable and should be expected. You can always double your efforts for getting opt ins by advertising elsewhere to make up for your lost subscribers.
