Tracking Facebook Leads With Conversion Pixel

Hey guys,

I have a lead generation campaign going on FB and have the conversion pixel setup on the thank you page of my website.

The problem is every user that hits the thank you page it counts as a lead... I only want it to count the leads sent by facebook. I have leads coming from SEO, and other traffic platforms and it makes no sense that it's tracking those.

Any ideas on a solution? I don't want to have to use a separate thank you page and form if at all possible.

  • Is this a facebook tracking pixel? If you know some server side scripting you could pass a variable through to check if the source is facebook.

    • Yes, it's the facebook tracking pixel

Any tips on how to pass a variable through with FB?

  • Definitely going to prime this response with 'this isn't the only option' because someone smarter than us may know a 'trick'

Honestly, we create separate funnels for each traffic source so we can effectively track it... So Google traffic hits landing page a, opt-in confirmation page/oto page a, thanks for your purchase page a.

Facebook traffic sees landing page b, opt-in confirmation page/oto page b, thanks for your purchase page b.

Took some extra effort up front, but we've got it dialed now and it works for us. And, through this method, we've learned a few PPC traffic sources that SUCKED and diverted those marketing funds to the one that is ROCKING....

Well worth the effort for us...
