Need advice on which type of facebook page to use

Hi,
I recently started a small business offering cycling holidays and training camps and am now beginning to market it through social media.

Before starting my facebook page I have a couple of questions. I'd be really greatful for any help:
  1. The cycling community is small and quite a close community. I really want to engage with everyday cyclists on their facebook pages, but understand that if I start up a business page, I will be unable to do this, i.e. add everyday cyclists who are club members and potential customers as friends and get to know them. If however I set up a personal page I will be able to do this, athough it is against facebooks rules.
My question is, does anyone recommend doing a personal page so as I can engage more?
  2. With facebook business pages, what are the tactics for engagement? I do not offer a product or service that will automatically entice the masses to hit like on my facebook page. I understand that on a business facebook page I cannot interact with user on a personal page, but only other business pages. I fear therefore that my facebook page will become stagnant, as I can't converse with everyday cyclists, dicuss race results, share photos etc, as I don't have any cyclists as yet coming for cycling holidays and little content other than some photos of the area to share. If my thinking is wrong on this then please correct me.
  3. I also believe I can also interact with commuity paages but what other types of pages can I interact with if I am on a business page?
  4. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks for the help

A paid LIKE campaign for your Facebook page, if that's the route you decide to go, can help you build a solid fanbase and can be used to spur engagement on your page. You can keep your fans engaged by posting interesting memes and pictures that are related to cycling. Paid advertising can also be used to find customers for your business as long as you target the ads correctly.

You really need to set up a fan page. The profile page has a maximum of 5000 people and they are only designed for friends to keep in contact with one another. With a fan page, you can have unlimited numbers of fans and therefore, you can keep in contact with an unlimited number of fans.

The numbers of cyclists on our (British) roads are quite big. There are a lot of people interested in cycling as a way to get around and a way to keep fit.

Another thing about having a fan page is that you can reach an unlimited number of people with each post. Each fan has an average of 130 fans and all of those fans can see your posts as they will appear in their timelines - so they can all like your page too. It's pretty powerful stuff.

You can also invite your friends from your personal page to like your fan page through the fan page, so you don't need to worry about keeping in contact and sharing your fan page with your personal friends.

Exactly. The kind of traffic a fanpage can give is really huge. However, posting new and exciting information to keep people updated will benefit you a lot. But keep in mind that your information has to be accurate by all means.
